Älteres ATL-Interview (bzw. Stellungnahme) von 2002, es geht um DJ K-oss' Gefängnisstrafe und über das unreleaste "Diary Of A Drug Dealer"-Album. Komisch, dass in der Fußnote auf West World Records verwiesen wird, das Diary Of A Drug Dealer Album sollte doch auf Death Row (Tha Row Records) rauskommen, oder?
(March 8, 2002)
"On February 15, 2001 our brother, Dee-Jay, and co-founder, Anthony "DJ K-OSS" Stewart, was arrested in Riverside California and charged with several counts of drug possession and child-endangerment. Since K-oss' arrest, we have been trying to find the best legal representation for him in hopes of fighting this case. We must state that although we don't condone the actions that our brother and friend has taken, we do condone the way that he and Above The Law has been recently portrayed by those in the media. K-oss is not a drug dealer, drug user, nor surrounds his children around drugs and weapons, regardless of what has been printed in the media. He made a mistake that many of us has made in the past, present, and future and that's simply, he was at the wrong place at the wrong time and became friends with those who truly weren't friends with him. We couldn't believe all the misinformation and tabloid sensationalism that the media had put out concerning K-oss and come April 12, 2002 when he is sentenced we will be there to support him and his family. DJ K-oss has always been and will continue to be a member of Above The Law. We have been through far worse circumstances that would have broken up your average, run-of mill group, but we have persevered and will continue to do so, while K-oss serves his time in the belly of the beast. His sentencing won't stop Above The Law's present and future plans as artists. We find it appalling that no matter our successes and what we have brought to this game of Hip-Hop, individuals can only muster enough words to slang our brother's current situation and the group's name through the mud. As Public Enemy would say "don't believe the hype," to what you have been reading and/or hearing about this unfortunate situation. It is ironic that with this incident occurring, we have been recording a new album entitled "Diary Of A Drug Dealer." With this new album, we hope that our listeners will see and become better educated to the ugly side of drugs, death, and destruction. Too many rappers have been glorifying and promoting drug dealing and usage as if it's a badge of honor, but no one has really told the masses the deep psychological circumstances, surrounding why individuals would embark on such a dangerous and illegal profession. With this album we hope to educate the masses. We would like thank everyone who has known about this situation and has continued to show K-oss and the group love, despite all the negative press and rumors that has been written and circulating as of late."
