A message from Sunspot Jonz:
First off Fight Destroy Rock. This is that raw underground shit! It's that "straight out the house" mix like old four track songs in the early UHB days. Who knows about "Unsigned and Hella Broke"!! Like back in the day when I would be at the outhouse and would mix songs down on my lil tv speakers and then hit the block slanging out the box. That was that real underground shit!! Where you take the bus to some place and ya broke and have to sell ya albums or you had no money to get back home-or even eat lunch. It sucked if it went bad sometimes but Fuck a 9-5! It was all about creating a grind and making that shit pop! That was that really "really"-ya know! On this project I used a fucked up microphone, my mpc, the 1680, and my janky ass protools that kept breaking sometimes for months (thats why I had to revert to the 1680) but still I made some great songs through it all. That true hip hop!!

I wanted to bring back that old school underground passion that can't always be recaptured in a big studio but always shows up in a smaller home studio. Like the "Sunnyside Halfway House" in LA , California which always has a host of characters coming through its doors with blunts and bottles in their hands. So after a few of those sessions I created Fight Destroy Rock Vol.1&2.

And after that I went up to the Bay to record what was to become the Darkside ov Heaven with the incredible Bruce Banner (Brusic) at Data Stream studios. In the end I had a new album (which I loved) and all the stuff I made at Sunnyside which I loved too. So therefore I created the Fight Destroy Rock volumes of straight raw underground (UHB mixtape style) created in the home studio and The Darkside ov Heaven which is the big studio album with more midstreamish songs.

So strap in and get ready for the ride -- now sometimes the sound is gonna jump up, overdubbs are too low too loud, people making noise walking in with bottles of alcohol whatever -- you never know. That's that raw shit!!

I wanna send another quick shot out to radio for not playing my shit!! Ya'll need to bump this underground shit and let these people hear it!! I'm tired of them playing the same ole shit!! I'm gonna make my own radio station one day and fill the playlist with all the types of songs I love and make -- I make all types -- I am not narrow minded -- feel me!! I'll fuck around and make a gangsta polka lullaby -- music is infinite on what you can do -- just remember always stay true to your soul.

This is our time as an underground nation to stand up and bring something mentally nourishing to the soul. They wanna make us non thinking zombies -- straight prototypes to ignorance but we gotta be smarter than that and come tight. They wanna make us live in groundhogs day where we have no idea on whats happening -- but no way! What's happening? It seems like as long as we get the lil same ole crumbles off the table we wont even exert any effort -- this shit becomes a joke America.

We need to make a change -- not just because we have a new black prez who might finally do some good -- but also because we need to start making a valid difference in the world today -- each and everyone of us. So get up off yo ass and bump this underground shit or die Bitch!!

Wie auf den meisten Songs fällt es Dougie auch hier schwer seine Aussagen in stilvolle Worte zu kleiden, auffällig inflationär tauchen die Worte "Niggaz" und "Bitches" auf. Wer damit Schwierigkeiten hat, der wird wahrscheinlich überhaupt keinen Zugang zu diesem Longplayer finden.
