Today, Dubcnn sits down with the “Game Warden”, the infamous Sir Jinx! Known as a producer on more than a few classic albums like “Amerikkka’s Most Wanted” and “Death Certificate” for Ice Cube, the “40 Dayz & 40 Nightz” album for Xzibit, as well as being the cousin of that other well-known west coast producer known as Dr. Dre, Sir Jinx commands the respect of both the old school and new school heads. In Part 1 of this exclusive interview, we talk about the obvious subject of Ice Cube, his relationship with Xzibit, the direction that west coast rap is heading and much, much more

Dubcnn recently sat down with legendary producer Erotic D, who has worked many of the iconic figures in hip-hop history including, but not limited to, Dr. Dre, D.O.C., MC Breed, Eazy-E, Suge Knight, Snoop Dogg and others. You’ve heard his production on D.O.C.’s underground cult classic Helter Skelter, as well as his 2003 release Deuce, and on MC Breed’s Flatline album. Well, these are just a few of the records he’s had production and input on, as you will soon discover throughout this interview that Erotic D has been always heard, but seldom seen.

During Part 1 of this exclusive interview, Erotic D chronicles with us his journey from starting out as a party DJ in the early ‘80’s to connecting with D.O.C., working with Dr. Dre and being involved with NWA from the beginning, as well as giving us a detailed, first-hand account of the Death Row Records formation.

Schon witzig...fand Erotic D damals sehr dope,

Damn it feels good to be independent! Not only is it Independence Day for America, but you could also use the opportunity to drop your album that same day as a symbolic reflection. In this case, today marks the release of Young Maylay's anticipated new street album "The Real Coast Guard". Unlike most projects which drop on Tuesdays, Maylay went and got his own street date to release his sophomore project.

It's already been over 3 years since Maylay entered the game with his critically acclaimed "GTA: San Andreas" mixtape. Back then, we put the spotlight on him and announced him as an artist with a lot of potential. With the release of this new project, we can definitely say that he made that transition from being an underground rapper to an important part of the new generation in West Coast Rap. And you know you can't go wrong when you have two West Coast vets like DJ Crazy Toones and WC present the project, which, by the way, is also backed by Dubcnn a 100%.

So it's only right that we chopped it up with Maylay and dicussed "The Real Coast Guard" in this indepth interview. We get into the name changes of the mixtape, comparisons to his previous project, quality control, being inspired and guided by Crazy Toones and Dub C on the project, the West Coast state as well as the ongoing new artists vs. old artists talk, future plans and much

YOUNG MAYLAY (June 2008) | Interview By: Lil Jay

"The Real Coast Guard" can now be ordered from Maylay's MySpace page. It comes with features from Toones, Dub C, King T, Jelly Roll, Bad Lucc, Traci Nelson, and of course Maylay himself bringing that realness straight from the streets.

Dubcnn hooked up with rising producer from Atlanta, Maestro, who got his big break in 2008 by producing the intro track "3 Peat" on Lil Wayne's already double platinum album "Carter 3" as well as Ice Cube's street single ""Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It". He talks to us about how those two collaborations came about and how the sudden success has hit him.

He also tells us about his path up until now and his plans for the future. Maestro talks about his relationship with the Dogg Pound and Y.A., working with David Banner, WC and a possible collabo with Battlecat's brother Mykestro.

Dubcnn recently hooked up with legendary producer Marley Marl and the equally legendary Craig G. Despite some technical difficulties with the conference call Craig G told us about how their new project "Operation: Take Back Hip Hop" was a very natural process for them.

Find out why Craig G feels the term ‘Old School’ should be a term that we no longer use in hip hop. Craig also tells us what he learned from working on the movies for 8 Mile and Get Rich or Die Trying. Ensure you pick up "Operation: Take Back Hip Hop" which is in stores now.

MELLOW MAN ACE (November 2008) | Interview By: Jonathan Hay & Chad Kiser

Everybody knows that Mellow Man Ace is a legend – and an original member of Cypress Hill, who left to pioneer the Latin hip-hop world, to cross over into the US and sell millions of records worldwide. His record-breaking classic single “Mentirosa” gave birth to a completely new genre of successful music now categorized as “Reggaeton.” As Mellow Man Ace put it in this Dubcnn exclusive interview, “The importance of the song Mentirosa is much like that of Roberto Clemente or Jackie Robinson’s influence on modern day athletics in terms of what they did for blacks and Latino's in major league baseball.”

His staggering success is documented in the history books forever; however, we go where no interview has ever gone before with Mellow Man Ace. We travel beneath the surface as Mellow personally opens up and exposes the transparency of his inner self – as we feel the hurt and tears from the Latino struggle, to own personal struggles, including the pain and conflict with his own flesh and blood brother, SenDog (from Cypress Hill). We speak on deep social issues such as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the industry, Politics – or as he calls them “Politricks” -- and even Marijuana…

This interview reveals the truth and vulnerability that many people are afraid to show. It doesn’t get any more real than this…it also doesn’t get anymore West Coast than this interview. It’s an honor for Chad and I to be a part of this historic conversation for Dubcnn.

Hieroglyphics is a crew comprised of top notch lyricists. Their logo is recognized around the world. Opio is a member of the mighty Hiero crew and Dubcnn sat down with him as he released his new album, "Vulture’s Wisdom."

Opio talks about working with a producer outside of the Hiero fold in Architect. He discusses life on the road and being regarded by Hip Hop heads as an emcee that leaves the mic smokin’. Iron sharpens iron and in Hiero the competition is good natured but fierce nonetheless.

Opio talks about how the verbal sparring in his crew helped make him a better emcee. Hip Hop is not dead and Opio is proof positive. So read on and get to know about a one its torch bearers.
