Hell Rell Announces Release Date For Sophomore Set

Indie powerhouse Babygrande Records, home to such acclaimed acts as Hi-Tek, JR Writer, GZA, Purple City, Jedi Mind Tricks, Immortal Technique & more, proudly announces the May 27th, 2008 release of Hell Rell's sophomore set: "Black Mask & Gloves..."

Hell Rell is no stranger to success. As a member of the international street sensation The Diplomats, Rell solidified his street profile with appearances on Diplomat releases "Diplomatic Immunity," "Diplomatic Immunity 2" and Dipset's "More Than Music Vol. 1 & 2."

The successor to 2007's street smash debut, "For The Hell Of It," "Black Mask & Gloves" reasserts Rell's prominence as the hard-hitting king of New York street rap and the next wave of Diplomat/Dipset talent.

Hell Rell's "Black Mask & Gloves" hits stores May 27th, 2008.

Living Legends Prepare New Albums, Tour Date

Underground veterans, the Living Legends, locked themselves into the studio over the past few months to complete their new album, titled The Gathering.

The new set, due in April, will feature every single MC of the group -- comprised of Murs, The Grouch, Luckyiam, Eligh, Scarub, Sunspot Jonz, Aesop Fables, and Bicasso -- on every single song of the forthcoming album, which they are calling their "most well crafted batch since their inception."

The album is a seven song collection, which serves as a pre-cursor to the group's next full length effort expected later this year.

Additionally, group member The Grouch is also preparing a new album, his first solo project in five years and a work in progress that took three years to complete. "I worked on this record for almost three years," said The Grouch of how he's developed as an artist. "More, this record was an idea that sprang to mind after the birth of my daughter, Rio, in 2006. As soon as she arrived, all I could do is think about wanting to show her everything that I love. I was quickly humbled when I realized I was learning as much from her as she was from me." The new album, titled Show You The World, is The Grouch's 15-track solo effort, which features guest appearances from singer Raphael Saadiq, Murs, and his fellow Living Legends brothers Bicasso and Scarub. The Grouch's Show You The World and the group album The Gathering are both slated for release on April 8, via Legendary Music, the label owned and operated by the members themselves for nearly a decade.

As a collective, the prolific crew has sold well over a quarter million records between them. Most recently, the Legends brought on a full label staff of industry veterans known for an expertise in grass roots marketing and label development, signed a new distribution deal with leading independent record distributor ADA Distribution, and signed with booking agency, The Kork Agency.

Since signing with Kork, the Legends have a headlining theater tour booked in March that is punctuated with a headlining showcase at SXSW and a featured performance on the 3rd annual Paid Dues Festival, co-founded by Legends member Murs with Hip Hop juggernaut promoters, Guerilla Union (Rock the Bells, Smokeout, etc). Along with the Legends, the bill includes Sage Francis, Little Brother, Dilated Peoples, Jedi Mind Tricks, Hieroglyphics, Boot Camp Click, POS, and others.

More Living Legends tour dates are as follows:

Jim Gittum Releases Solo Album!

Former Death Row producer Jim Gittum has just released a solo album, titled The Vision. The album, where Jim Gittum produces and rap, is available to purchase now directly from his official MySpace page www.myspace.com/jimgittum. You can also hear two sample tracks from the album on the page. Read more for full info on the album, including cover art...

With songs like Just Because, and Brighter Day, The Vision showcases rap music with a meaning, coupled with the flawless production that we have all come to expect from Gittum.
Jim Gittum is one of only a handful of people who can attest to the inner-workings of 90’s rap-powerhouse Death Row Records. As a staff producer for Suge Knight’s enterprise, the young Long Beach native contributed his talent to the careers of legendary West Coast names, including Tupac Shakur. With a formidable resume including work with Crooked I, The Game, Keyshia Cole, K-Ci Hailey, and Tha Dogg Pound, Queen Latifah, comedian Eddie Griffin, and the Billy Blanks Tae-Bo DVD series.

Gittum is without a doubt one of the brightest writers, thinkers, emcees and producers to emerge from the west coast’s artistic and cultural movement. Though always happy to write and produce for other artists, Jim’s quiet desire has always been to become a vehicle of his own message. His company, Hell No, Inc., is an answer to the forces of nature that encourage failure, and he has produced an entire debut album entitled The Vision, before approaching record executives with his fresh approach to faith-based music.

Does Jim Gittum dance with the Devil..? Hell No.

The Vision is on sale now at www.myspace.com/jimgittum, and will be available on iTunes soon.

Papoose & Remy Ma to Wed In Jail 3/28/08

One day after Remy Ma's conviction on assault was levied some good news finally emerges from the Remy Camp. Brooklyn rapper Papoose has confirmed to MTV News that he and Remy are, in fact, a couple and had plans to marry next month. Pap said the two are moving forward with their nuptials despite Ma's predicament and are making arrangements to marry in prison. "We always wanted to keep our personal lives personal, so that's why we never went public with our relationship. Right now, I just feel like she gotta live through me. Yes, we were scheduled to be married on a yacht April 27th. But due to circumstances beyond our control, we are now making arrangements to be married in prison. All her supporters who feel Remy had an influence on their life should write a short letter to the judge asking for the shortest sentence possible," he wrote. "Send it to LettersForRemy@gmail.com."
