NYG’z Release Welcome To G-Dom, First Release On DJ Premier’s Year Round Imprint
Fans of Gang Starr have been waiting anxiously for DJ Premier’s Year Round Label to open up shop and that day has finally arrived! Hot off of the heels of their DJ Premier produced “Anti-Imus” protest track, “N.H.B.” f/Blaq Poet, Gang Starr Foundation members, The NYG’z (Panchi and Shabeeno), put NY on their back and “Hip-Pop” under attack with the release of their debut street-LP---“Welcome To G-Dom.”
With the release of “Welcome To G-Dom,” which will be released on 9-11-07, it will mark the first release from DJ Premier’s Year Round Records imprint and the first of a veritable slew of projects the label has kept under wraps until now. DJ Premier assertively states “NYG’z is bringin' the definition of a duo back to the front line of Hip-Hop. Not only is it street, but they represent the true meaning of what it is to make a real album. Be on the lookout for NYG’z street album, Welcome To G-Dom, and my first all DJ Premier produced LP with the NYG’z, Pros & Cons, you heard the first Jeru The Damaga LP and the Group Home LP; need I say more?”
Bolstered by the rugged street-intellect of Panchi and Shabeeno (who as a duo have previously appeared on “The Mall” from Gang Starr’s classic opus Moment Of Truth) and the impeccable production of DJ Premier (who produces seven tracks) Welcome To G-Dom formally declares the NYG’z as not only a problem, but one of NYC’s top up-and-coming groups. “Welcome To G-Dom is a teaser, what we consider a brief but thorough introduction of what’s to come” quips Shabeeno.
Boasting guest appearances from M.O.P.’s Lil Fame, Royal Flush and Year Round Records family members Blaq Poet and Rave and production as well from DJ Premier, Thorotracks and Emile who has also worked with a who’s who of Hip-Hop’s elite (AZ, Obie Trice, Snoop, The Roots, Ghostface, Ice Cube, Rhymefest, M.O.P, Raekwon, Cormega) Welcome To G-Dom promises to be both a lyrical and sonic tour de force. But perhaps Panchi sums it up best “finally, our soundtrack for the movie you call life!”
On September 11th, 2007, Hip-Pop is under attack with the NYG’z Welcome To G-Dom!
