UG Rap Community

Antipop Consortium was an alternative hip hop group that released several tape singles and two albums before being signed by Warp Records in 2000. The group formed in 1997 when Beans, High Priest, M. Sayyid and producer Earl Blaize met at a poetry slam in New York City. The group disbanded due to creative differences in August 2002, with Beans pursuing a solo career while High Priest and M. Sayyid formed Airborn Audio, which released a single album, Good Fortune, on Ninja Tune in 2005, and toured with The Faint and Bright Eyes. All three members are now pursuing solo projects.

Ich bin damals durch "Tragic Epilogue" auf die Gruppe gekommen und fand diese Verquickung von elektronischen Elementen und klassischem Rap ziemlich gut umgesetzt. Ihr Sachen waren mit teilweise zu wenig eingängig, das hatte für mich irgendwann auch keinen besonderen Hörwert mehr. Welche der neueren (besonders der Solo-Releases) sind denn zu empfehlen?

Wo liegt denn der Unterschied von der Garganchula Black Hoodz und der 2.0 auf Ozone - ist das nur ne represse oder sind des ganz andere Tracks? Remixe? etc.

welche sollte man sich zum einstieg holen??

falls du jetzt ingesamt anti-pop consortium meinst, ich würd dir die tragic epilogue empfehlen. zeigt schon so in welche richtung das ganze geht, ist halt eher experimentell, weiß nicht ob dir sowas gefällt, mir auf jeden fall!

Ja, sehe ich auch so. Ich habe zwar noch nicht alles von ihnen gehört, aber das Album gilt ganz allgemein als ihre beste Veröffentlichung und sollte damit auch ein guter Einstieg sein...

Also High Priest's "Born Identity" fand ich ja jetz nich so übermäßig. Wahrshceinlich zu experimentell für mich...2 richtige gute Teile drauf, n paar ganz gute, aber auch einiges zum skippen..

muss mal was anderes hören ... die scheiben in meinem schrank klingen mir mittlerweile etwas einseitig

finde, im experimentellen bereich gibt es aufregendere alben als die tragic epilogue oder die shopping carts...klingen beide nicht schlecht, es fehlt allerdings an positiven ausreißern...die restlichen alben hab ich noch nicht gehört
