Home Invasion Turns Into Day Of Terror

November 25, 2005. Sacha Newbern and a roommate were home alone in their San Diego home that morning. Police say that at approximately 9:30, two armed black males entered the residence and stayed for 10 terror-filled hours.

Police say that upon entering, the suspects gagged and tied up the women. Sometime later, Sacha's boyfriend, Meico McGhee returned home and was confronted by the gunmen. Meico tried to fight back, but was overpowered. Cops say the suspects beat and questioned the three victims in hopes of gaining information about a large amount of money hidden in the house. According to police, this was only a rumor.

"You're gonna get what your father got."

Hours Of Terror End With Murders

Hours later, two female roommates returned home only to be tied up, questioned, and beaten. The gunmen ransacked the home. As a diversionary tactic, one of the women told the gunmen that the money may have been buried in the backyard. The men dug several large holes but came up empty handed. Authorities say they did locate a safe which they carried to a vehicle.

Meico and Sacha were put into a bathtub and continuously questioned about the location of the money. Police say they even threatened Meico saying that "you're gonna get what your father got", indicating that they had knowledge of the 2004 murder of Meico's father.

Police believe at one point the gunmen poured gasoline over the couple and threatened to light them both on fire. At 7 p.m., after almost 10 hours of torture, the gunmen shot Meico and Sacha in the head. The suspects fled the scene, possibly in an awaiting vehicle.

Cops Have Person Of Interest

Hearing the shots, two of the victims were able to free their hands and escape out of the home. They contacted a neighbor and called San Diego police.

Police collected fingerprints and DNA evidence and hope to match it to the suspects. Currently, Michael Baraka Mason has been identified as a person of interest and is wanted for questioning, but cops say he has left town. Authorities in San Diego also want Mason for a parole violation.

San Diego cops say that Mason may be in Las Vegas or Atlanta. He has ties to the Lincoln Park gang and is considered very dangerous.
