Rapper Black Rob was sentenced to seven years in prison Thursday (March 30) after being convicted of grand larceny for robbing a hotel room in 2004.

The rapper pleaded guilty to criminal possession of stolen property in November 2005, after hotel security cameras caught him leaving a New York hotel with a woman's pocketbook in November 2004.

He was charged with stealing over $6,000 in jewelry and $300 cash from the woman's room.

Black Rob, born Robert Ross, was charged with burglary and criminal possession of stolen property and was subsequently sentenced to serve two to six years in jail.

He was free on bail, but a fugitive warrant was issued for his arrest when he failed to show up to serve his time as arranged.

A fugitive warrant was issued and the rapper was arrested in February 2006 in New Jersey.

Prosecutors gave Black Rob the maximum sentence because he failed to turn himself in.

The rapper released his sophomore LP, The Black Rob Report in 2005.

black rob erstmal 7 jahre on lock, nice. das ist ja fast nichts. :zahn:

Suge Knight Facing Possible Jail Time, Loss Of Death Row Records
By Nolan Strong
Date: 4/2/2006 10:40 am

Death Row Records CEO Marion "Suge" Knight missed another court-ordered hearing yesterday (April 1) to determine the legal ownership of the pioneering rap label.

The label has been at the center of a legal battle between Knight, incarcerated drug boss Michael "Harry-O" Harris and his estranged wife, Lydia Harris.

Harry-O, who is serving a 28-year sentence for drug dealing and attempted murder, alleges that he and his wife helped launch what became Death Row Records in 1991 from prison, with a $1.5 million investment.

Since 1997, Harris has claimed he helped create Death Row along with Suge Knight and his lawyer David Kenner.

Harris said he struck the deal with Knight from his prison cell, but eventually was excluded from profits the label earned on classic albums by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound and others.

Harry O's wife Lydia Harris filed a lawsuit against Knight and in March of 2005, Knight was ordered to pay Mrs. Harris $107 million dollars.

Mrs. Harris was awarded the judgment because Knight failed to respond to legal inquires about the case, missed various court dates and failed to show his assets.

Mrs. Harris was awarded a settlement that included $60 million in punitive damages, $45 million in economic damages and $2 million in non-economic damages.

Harry-O has since filed for divorce from his wife and maintains that he is entitled to half of the $107 million that was awarded his wife in March.

In February 2006, Knight and Death Row Record filed a $106 million dollar lawsuit against Michael "Harry-O" Harris and others in Los Angeles Federal Court.

Knight's lawsuit alleges Harris is blackmailing the label, by threatening to allege that proceeds from his drug enterprise were invested in legitimate businesses, such as Death Row Records.

Harris was known for investing in legitimate business ventures.

He served as producer of Denzel Washington's 1987 Broadway debut, Checkmates.

Harris was convicted of running an international drug operation with connections to a Columbian cocaine cartel and the attempted murder of an associate.

Knight faces jail time for contempt of court until he attends a hearing to disclose all that he owns.

Attorneys will ask the court to put Death Row Records into receivership and will attempt to auction off the pioneering label's music valuable music catalog.

Knight's assets have been frozen since August 2005.

Leaders Of The New School Member Dinco Disses Busta

Former Leaders of the New School member Dinco has recorded a diss track directed at fellow ex-member Busta Rhymes in a new song titled "F**k Touch It."

Dinco, who raps over the instrumental to Busta Rhymes' hit single "Touch It," said he recorded the single in response to comments Rhymes made on a DJ Clue mixtape.

"I heard it on a Clue mixtape where [Busta] called us a bunch of b***hes," Dinco told AllHipHop.com. "He said some real foul s**t, saying my crew's acting like a bunch of b***hes. And Brown's mother s***ted him out. And following conversations, he's just been mad disrespectful to me."

Leaders of the New School was a pioneering group that released two critically acclaimed albums, Future Without A Past (1991) and T.I.M.E. (1993) via Elektra Records before calling it quits in 1994.

Dinco D. was a member of the group along with Busta Rhymes, Charlie Brown and Cut Monitor Milo. The trio is also featured on A Tribe Called Quest's 1992 party anthem "The Scenario."

After the group disbanded, Rhymes struck out on his own and appeared on several high profile singles, including the remix to Craig Mack's breakthrough Bad Boy single "Flava In Ya Ear."

Rhymes inked a deal with Elektra in 1995 and a year later dropped the classic single "Whoo Haa," taken from his 1996 album The Coming.

Leaders of the New School recorded a reunion song on Busta Rhymes' 1996 disc The Coming titled "Keep It Movin," which featured Rampage The Last Boy Scout, Dinco, Charlie Brown and Cut Monitor Milo. Since then, Dinco has continued producing and now resides in Atlanta.

Another recent incident between Rhymes and Dinco led to Dinco penning the lyrics: "I zoomed in on and focused on the chain closer/The S from the leaders musta got pushed over/And landed on his chest/Soupened him up, Superman being too much/Now he's in a bunch/No longer the original man/More like Peter the Pan/Now go skip along, your interviews are so bland."

Dinco was referring to a new diamond studded chain Busta Rhymes has been wearing that incorporates the Leaders of the New School's logo and the words "leader of the new school" in diamonds.

"I was joking with the dude and I was like can I get a Leaders of the New School chain?'" Dinco said. "He was like 'yo those cost a lot of money, I don't know if you can afford it.' I was like 'You a funny dude.' He took that out of context, like 'what do you mean I'm a funny dude?' I was laughing with him. He wasn't trying to hear it.'"

When asked if he was trying to exploit Rhymes' recent media attention, Dinco replied: "I don't know what they [fans] gonna take it as, but they [fans] gonna get it."

Dinco's new album The Black Pirate King James-Tha Los' Leader Album is available in Apple's iTunes Music Store.

The rapper is also currently working on an album due this spring.

Representatives for Busta Rhymes refused to comment on Dinco's song.

Haitian Rapper Black Alex Shot Four Times, Wyclef Lends Support

Haitian rapper Black Alex was shot several times last week in Petionville, Haiti, after unknown assailants robbed him of a diamond-encrusted necklace and pendant that sources said was given to him by associate Wyclef Jean.

Sources told AllHipHop.com that Black Alex was leaving a concert that was part of a soccer game in the suburb of Port-au-Prince on April 2, when he was robbed at gunpoint for the chain, worth an estimated $20,000.

The robbers shot him four times and also took an unknown amount of money. Paramedics rushed the rapper to a Port-au-Prince hospital in critical condition.

Black Alex, born James Pierre Alexis, rose to popularity in Haiti with the group King Posse. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and according to published reports, 75 percent of the people live below the poverty level set by the World Bank.

The country was originally inhabited by Arawak and Taino tribes until the 15th century, when Spanish landed on the island around 1492. The original population was enslaved and ravaged by disease and quickly died out.

The island was then colonized by the Spanish and the French, who brought African slave labor to Haiti and the Caribbean for sugar production. In 1791, The Haitian Revolution started as a slave uprising and led to the establishment of the black nation of Haiti in 1801.

In 2004, tropical storm Jeanne hit the island, killing over 3,000 people and leaving an estimated 350,000 people homeless. The country's former leader, President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, was ousted in the middle of the storm.

Various rappers, including Wyclef Jean and Jimmy "Henchmen" Rosemond have donated time and money to various causes to help the impoverished island.

"Black Alex was very instrumental in our efforts of bringing awareness to the Haitian cause in and out of Haiti," Rosemond told AllHipHop.com.

Sources also told AllHipHop.com that Wyclef flew to Haiti and had Black Alex airlifted to Cuba, where the rapper could receive better medical treatment for the gunshot wounds, one of which lied just two inches from his heart.

Black Alex is in critical condition but he is expected to recover from his wounds

Nas and Rakim Set To Collaborate

Nas has been compared to Rakim for his distinct style of rhyming. Nas even recorded a song called UBR, the Unauthorized Biography of Rakim tributing William Griffin The Great.

Now, the Queensbridge Street’s Disciple will collaborate with The God MC from Wyandanch, Long Island himself, Rakim.

As MTV cameras rolled last week, Nas and Rakim, two of hip hop’s most influential MCs, made their plans to collaborate official.

"I'ma ask a question," Rakim said to Nas and everyone in the room as MTV cameras rolled. "Me and Nas, we been talking about this for a long time. Our people around us been talking about it and the whole world [has been talking about it], but it's about time, man. We gotta do a joint together, man. We gotta do a joint."

"We got to," Nas answered.

Each MC is currently working on their own respective solo album. The 18th Letter disclosed that his forthcoming LP, The Seventh Seal, should be finished in two months and will be distributed through a major label.

Nas, on the other hand, continued to keep silent about his Def Jam debut project, only stating that he’s ready to “kick ass” on it.

When it comes to this legendary long-awaited collaboration, though, Rakim is excited.

"Hopefully we'll find the right chemistry and right track — because you know [Nas] as well as me, we not going to do it if it don't make sense,” Rakim told MTV.com. “[It's gotta be] on and poppin'. I just wanted to get that out of the way, because it's [been] a long time coming.

“Watching him grow, and having respect for him and getting respect from him, is a beautiful thing."

The two MCs exchanged numbers and vowed to chop it up again with further plans next week.

Lil' Cease Arrested In Brooklyn, Being Held On Rikers Island

Former Junior Mafia member Lil' Cease was arrested in Brooklyn, New York (April 13) on an outstanding warrant and is being held at Rikers Island, after the rapper missed a hearing to answer alleged probation violations.

Sources told AllHipHop.com that the former protégé of the late Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace was in Brooklyn with two associates, when police pulled their vehicle over for unknown reasons.

One of the men allegedly attempted to flee but was apprehended after a brief chase. A search of the men allegedly turned up a small amount of marijuana.

When police ran Lil' Cease's birth name of James Lloyd, they found out he was wanted for missing a February 8 court date regarding a violation of his probation.

The rapper was originally charged with attempted murder for a shooting outside of a Brooklyn deli in August of 2001.

Lil' Cease pleaded guilty to a felony charge of criminal possession of a weapon in October of 2002 and was sentenced to 5 years probation.

A representative at the Brooklyn Supreme Court told AllHipHop.com that the rapper failed to respond to requests to appear at a probation hearing, resulting in the arrest warrant.

Lil' Cease made a court appearance today, but will stay on Rikers Island until at least Monday, when he will appear in front of Judge Abraham Gerges.

Attorneys for Lil' Cease were not available at press time.

Lil' Cease is a former member of the chart topping group Junior M.A.F.I.A., which featured the late Notorious B.I.G. as well as incarcerated rapper Lil' Kim.

Kim is presently serving a 366-day sentence in a Philadelphia correctional facility for lying to a grand jury about her knowledge of a shoot out in front of a New York radio station.

Uncle Luke Is Back!

Luther "Uncle Luke" Campbell is at a controversial crossroads yet again. Major retailers are wavering over whether or not to carry a new double CD audio book and music compilation, Uncle Luke - My Life & Freaky Times.

Luke and distributor Urban Box Office (UBO) had teamed up to sponsor a spokesmodel contest for the project last year. The audio book will offer a voyeuristic peek into Luke's life, giving his firsthand accounts of his exploits as an entertainer, even spilling the dirt on other celebrities as he recalls his milestones in the music business.

Retailers have objected to some of the titles on the project, threatening not to carry the products unless changes are made.

"This album pushes the barometer for parental advisory with titles that allude to things of sexual nature that we know will receive major backlash," said one retailer who preferred not to be identified.

Campbell responded to the controversy. "All I can say is here we go again," said Luke via a statement. "After my landmark victory with the Supreme Court, I would think that our right to freedom of expression as artists has been preserved. This audio book is my life and I've always raised the bar and broken the rules. I raised the bar when I formed Luke Records, the first ever African-American owned and operated hip-hop record label, in 1983. I raised the bar when I went up against the Supreme Court for our right of artistic freedom of expression. This audio book is more than a tell-all audio book of freaky stories, it's about my life and career."

The accompanying 23-track CD, Don of All Dons - The Soundtrack, features guest appearances by Trick Daddy, Pitbull, Jacki-O, Petey Pablo, Rick Ross and Dirtbag. The CD's first single "Holla At Cha Homeboy" featuring Pitbull and Petey Pablo is currently in radio rotation.

Uncle Luke - My Life & Freaky Times is due in stores May 16.

Rap-A-Lot CEO James Prince Subpoened In Suge Knight Case

Houston, Texas mogul James Prince was served a subpoena by an attorney for imprisoned drug boss Michael "Harry-O" Harris, who seeks to determine the financial relationship between Prince and Marion "Suge" Knight.

Prince, owner of Rap-A-Lot and Prince Boxing, was served with the subpoena while sitting ringside at the IBF Welterweight Championship bout between "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather and Zab "Super" Judah on Saturday, April 8.

Harris' lawyer Steve Goldberg will question Prince on Thursday, April 20 in Houston, seeking knowledge about the relationship between Prince and Knight.

"They have a relationship, they were sitting side by side at the [Floyd] Mayweather fight and we are seeking to determine the depth of their business relationship," Goldberg told AllHipHop.com. "We believe that Mr. Prince may owe Mr. Harris a substantial amount of money."

Goldberg said he believes Knight and Prince have several unnamed joint ventures together.

"I look forward to getting into the nitty-gritty of the financial dealings between Mr. Prince and Mr. Knight," Goldberg told AllHipHop.com. "I plan to leave no stone unturned."

Knight filed for bankruptcy earlier this month, claiming debts of more than $100 million.

Knight said he filed for bankruptcy in an attempt to avoid paying Harris' estranged wife Lydia a $107 million default judgement against Knight and Death Row Records.

Harris, who is serving a 28-year sentence for attempted-murder and drug dealing in San Quentin, claims he invested $1.5 million to help start Death Row Records in 1991 with Knight's attorney, David Kenner.

The label released platinum records by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound, Tupac Shakur and others.

The Harris' won a default judgement, after Knight missed several hearings seeking to determine his assets.

While Knight and Prince have never formally announced a business venture, rumors have persisted for years that Prince and Knight were planning a record distribution company.
