Damizza is gearing up for the release of his "Guilty By Association" mixtape and album, two of the year’s most anticipated West Coast releases. The Los Angeles-based beatsmith is in high-level talks with distributors to release the "Guilty By Association" album in Jan 2006. Before the album drops, Damizza will release the "Guilty By Association" mixtape. Artists appearing on both versions of Guilty By Association include Nate Dogg, Knoc-Turn’Al, Mariah Carey, Bishop Lamont, DJ Quik, Strong Arm Steady’s Krondon, Spitfya, Latin Froz’s Hen G, Butch Cassidy, Fingaz, O’ Shay, Sediva, Tri Star, Logik, Bronek and more TBA.

After laying-low the last part of 2004, Damizza is eager to get back into the musical mix. “I'm so glad to be back in Los Angeles working with the next generation of talent, as well as all of the OGs,” says multi-platinum producer Damizza, who has produced songs for Mariah Carey, Korn, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg, among others.

Even though Damion Young “took the year off,” 2004 was another successful year for Damizza. He released Volume 3 of his acclaimed "Damizza Presents" mix tape series. The acclaimed release featured new material from Mariah Carey, Eminem, P. Diddy, Ashanti, Fat Joe, Snoop Dogg, Young Buck, Jermaine Dupri, Ice Cube, Mack 10, DJ Quik, Nate Dogg, Kurupt, Butch Cassidy, Knoc-Turn’Al, Jayo Felony, Boo Ya Tribe, Bear and TQ. Earlier in 2004, Damizza released "Damizza Presents: The Baby Ree Mix Tape Volume 2", a mix tape hosted by Pamela Anderson that featured new music from Jadakiss, Nate Dogg, DJ Quik, Butch Cassidy and Jayo Felony.

Westcoast2k would like to premiere the first single off "Guilty By Association". The track is called "My Life" and features Mariah Carey with production by Damizza himself. Knoc-Turn'al is helping out on the catchy hook which adds a lot to the track. Hear it for yourself:

Ice Cube has signed on to produce the lighthearted comedy "Teacher of the Year," about two junior high instructors engaged in a no-holds-barred battle for the title. He is also in talks to star.

The former N.W.A gangsta rapper, who reinvented himself in January as a purveyor of kid-friendly fare with "Are We There Yet?," will produce the film along with Cubevision partner Matt Alvarez for New Line Cinema.

Cube has several other projects currently in development as well, including a remake of the 1948 Cary Grant comedy "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" and a CIA action film called "The Extractors."

Currently being penned by "The Bernie Mac Show" veteran Jeff Bushell, a finished draft of "Teacher" is due soon. A release date has not been set.

Platinum selling rapper Lil’ Kim was sentenced to one year and one day in prison, fined $50,000 and sentenced to three years probation by a federal judge today (July 6), after being convicted on federal perjury and conspiracy charges.

Lil’ Kim was escorted by rappers Freddie Foxxx (Bumpy Knuckles), Maino and a fortress of security that helped fend off a mob of fans as she entered a Manhattan court house to face sentencing.

Kim, born Kimberly Jones, was found guilty in March of 2005 of lying to a federal grand jury about her knowledge of a broad daylight shootout that occurred in 2001 outside Hot 97’s SoHo offices.

The altercation occurred on February 25, 2001 when members of Kim’s Junior M.A.F.I.A. entourage were leaving Hot 97 as men associated with Capone-N-Noreaga were entering the radio station.

The two groups of men were at odds with each other over a song on Capone-N-Noreaga’s album The Reunion, which featured fellow Brooklyn rapper, Foxy Brown.

On the song “Bang, Bang,” Brown hurls insults in Kim’s direction.

Brooklyn don't raise hoes, just slip, and graze hoes/What b**ch? You're soft and your p**sy name hoes/So f**k your ni**as too, them ni**as can get it too/Them f**ots act more b**ch then you/Let the ni**a [Notorious B.I.G.] rest in peace, and hop off his d**k…b**ch do you

The lyrical feud boiled over when the groups collided in a verbal altercation as Kim’s crew was leaving the radio station following an interview.

The drama escalated and a shootout took place on the street, with over 22 shots fired from six different guns, including a machine gun. One man associated with Capone-N-Noreaga was shot in the upper back.

Before the trial commenced, two men linked to Kim - former manger Damion “D-Rock" Butler and bodyguard Suif “Gutta” Jackson - pled guilty to their role in the shootout.

Federal authorities investigating the incident called Kim to testify before a federal grand jury in 2003 about her knowledge of the altercation. Kim repeatedly testified that she didn’t know the person or persons responsible for the shootout.

Jackson pled guilty to gun charges surrounding the incident in September of 2004 and Judge Lynch sentenced him to 12 years in prison due to his involvement in the shooting.

Butler pled in January of 2005 and is awaiting sentencing as of press time.

During the trial, Butler admitted that he fired the handgun outside of the radio station “with the intent of hurting someone.”

Kim entered a not guilty plea in April of 2005 before a federal judge and her attorney Mel Sachs called the allegations “baseless.”

She surrendered in a New York Federal Court and was freed on $500,000 bond.

During the trial, prosecutors produced photographs of Kim standing near Butler shortly before the shooting, as well as a video of several of the suspects entering Lil’ Kim’s limousine following the shooting.

Kim labeled Butler and Jackson former associates who were “greedy and violent” men that were exploiting her and testified that she had ended her relationship with the men prior to the shooting.

During her testimony, Kim said that she couldn’t remember details of the shooting, which she said was “very traumatic.”

"I was shaken by it,” Kim testified. “I couldn't believe it was happening at that very moment."

The jury, made up of five women and seven men, deliberated for almost three days before finding Kim guilty of lying a total of 29 times in three appearances in 2003.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Cathy Siebel told the jury that Kim’s testimony was “laughable” and that the rapper may have believed she was above the law.

Today an apologetic Lil' Kim issued the following statement:

"I would like to thank all of my supporters who have stood by my side throughout this entire ordeal. The many prayers and hundreds of letters of support, e-mails and kind words that have poured in have been overwhelming and critical in helping my family, loved ones and myself stay strong during this time of need. Today was a very difficult day for me, but I am no stranger to adversity and will do whatever I need to do so that I can continue to work hard and give back to my family, amazing fans and community."

Lil' Kim, who will turn 30 years-old next week, is currently finishing up material for a new album, as well as various television endeavors in anticipation of her stint in federal prison.

As of press time, no word has been given as to whether or not Lil' Kim will appeal the sentence. Kim must surrender to authorities on September 19.

:bonk:

btw: Lil’ Kim was escorted by rappers Freddie Foxxx (Bumpy Knuckles)

Freddie ist jetzt Bodyguard??? :ugly:

Federal Prosecutors in charge of the case against Tab "Turk" Virgil have been given until August 1st to come up with a key witness in their case against the former Cash Money "Hot Boy."

The case was scheduled for trial this past Tuesday, but U.S attorneys asked for a delay because they couldn't locate witness Sean Jackson.

Virgil's attorney was opposed to the delay, noting that each day Turk remains in jail, his rap career slowly dwindles away.

"It's speculative whether they can ever catch up with [Jackson]. He's not coming forward as a willing witness," Virgil’s attorney Jay Bailey told the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

On January 26, 2004, Turk and Sean Jackson were in a Memphis apartment when SWAT members raided the residence.

Allegedly, a shootout ensued in which one SWAT member was injured by gunfire. Turk was later cleared of other charges, when it was found a second officer was wounded from friendly fire.

Turk faces 1st degree attempted murder charges in state court in December. He is also facing charges of being a felon in possession of a handgun, a fugitive in possession of a handgun and other offenses.

The rapper is currently being held on $150,000 bond.

MJG Starts Own Label - Signs New Act ??? !!!

Stomping into the game in 2002 with their debut album, “Da Game”, the Orange Mound duo, The Volunteers, continue to blossom as artists while strengthening their ever-growing empire. They will be the next hottest group out of Memphis, TN and one of the most promising pairings in hip-hop owning their own entertainment company, Teers Entertainment. The Volunteers put themselves on a vigorous training schedule sharpening their verbal skills day and night by writing, practicing in the studio, critiquing themselves, shooting videos and promoting their own shows. Their fierce determination and drive for perfection produced their sophomore album, “Gunz and Rozes”, which was released on July 27, 2004, independent in over 20 states and distributed by Selecto-hits. To date, over 7,000 copies of both albums, “Da Game” and “Gunz and Rozes” have been sold on the streets. The hot single, “House and Home of Twankies (Remix)” on “Gunz and Rozes” is being played on Memphis, TN hottest underground television show, UGTV, and is rated number one on 1600 am; the video is a part of the d.v.d. compilation, RapTV.

On Gunz and Rozes, the duo showcases their versatility and broad range of different hip-hop styles. In the Murder Dog magazine, “Gunz and Rozes” received 4 out of 5 mics and in the Streetmasters magazine, it ranked 13 out 16 songs as hits. One may ask, “What is the underlying theme of Gunz and Rozes?” It refers to both genders. The gunz are for the fellows and the rozes are for the ladies. Songs like “We Da Truth” and “What U Watchin Me 4,” are the gunz. While, songs like “Jackie Chan” and “House and Home of Twankies (Remix)” are the rozes. The Volunteers has truly made a difference in the rap game and dented the industry with their sophomore album release. Currently working on their third album and producing their own tracks, new singles underway are Strawberry 22’s and G-Walk. Also, be on the lookout for the Volunteer clothing line, Helladoe. Innovation, hustle and passion have fueled them in their ability to bust through this rap game and break through the music industry’s concrete boundaries as a force to be reckoned with.

With continued success, and teaming up 8-ball and M.J.G new rap label (M.J.G. MUSIC), they will soar high above the industry’s standards and make an imprint that is infinite.

Noreaga says he's back where he started. After switching from Def Jam and signing with Roc-A-Fella over a year ago, hip-hop's captain of charisma says he's putting out his next album on Def Jam. "It was a whole lot of confusion for me," Nore said of his brief stint with Roc-A-Fella. "It was some weird things where I had to pick a side and I didn't want to pick a side. I was down with the whole movement."

Rather than get in the middle of what he says was a clash at the label (which he says he still has love for), Nore decided to go back to Def Jam. He's putting out a traditional hip-hop album, One Fan a Day, on the label in September, and later this year he's releasing a reggaeton LP (featuring most of the genre's major stars), but does not know what label it's coming out on.

Nore says record-label politics between Def Jam and TVT have jeopardized the official release of a collaboration he did with Ashanti and Lil Jon called called "Young Boy, Young Girl" that would have been his first single, but one half of the Neptunes has come to his rescue and produced a new track.

"If all else fails, I go back to Pharrell," he laughed. "It sounds like nothing we've done before, but the basic chemistry remains the same: Me and the n---a went in there and had fun. This is gonna remind you of a Nore-style 'Drop It Like It's Hot.' "

Speaking of droppin' it like it's hot, there was a rumor a couple of weeks back that Nas and Nore got into an altercation at a club and Nore wound up throwing a flower pot at his one-time close friend. Nore neither confirms nor denies the incident, only saying he was having "a bad week."

"Let me clear it up for the record: Nore loves Nas," he said. "The situation was little crazy, but Nore has a lot of love for Nas. I don't know if it will ever be the same.

"I took a shot from him that was coldblooded, we recently squashed it," he added, referencing when Nas went on a radio tirade a few years back and told Nore to step his rap game up. "Hopefully the situation will not escalate. We was actually gonna do 'Body in the Trunk Part 2' — I guess that's never gonna happen."

In support of his album, Nore just put out his mixtape Hang Hang Sangria, which is also the name of the liquor brand he wants to have in stores this year.

"I dug and in and took all the joints from my album I'm not using and said, 'I'm gonna give it to the streets.' " ...

:notsure:
