Zitat:
Here is an inside look at the making of "Casualties Of Life"

1. Casualties Of Life

I was at WindJammer studios in Marina with B-Dog at the controls. It was just a one on one session that afternoon.

I spit the first verse & B-Dog turned to me and got me all hyped about what I had written about. He got me to the point where once he pressed REC. I let loose like never before on that track. Squab & his ladie showed up when I was was laying my back up vocals, once I was done we chopped it up about collabing on a future track.

---------

2. Street Connect
Feat: Yukmouth, Yun-Gun, Young Droop, Smuggla & Doom the OriGinal

Before I get into the session part of it, there was a E40 & Luniz concert the night before which Doom & I had rolled out to. I made the connect to Yukmouth through Monsta Ganja. We were then invited to go party with Yukmouth and everybody over at the Blue Fin in Monterey.

Yukmouth and I chopped it up about doing a session and that was a done dada...Yun-Gun had to work that night and showed up to the after party. Once Yun-Gun got there I introduced him to Yuk and Yun-Gun gave me that look like "WHAT THE FUCK? WHAT YOU MEAN WE GOT A SESSION AT MY HOUSE TOMORROW?"

This session was a real blaze. Yukmouth was blazing blunt after blunt (I think I counted about 7 of them). To not make this any longer than what it already is...Yuk was hella cool & down to earth with us. He really helps us folkz tring come up is all I got to say.

-----------

3. Verbal Warfare
Feat: Mr. Kee & Dutch

This was a quick session the highlights were the jokes Mr. Kee & Dutch kept saying. Them two cats right there are some funny MoFo's. We all rolled over to Street Beats picked up Doom on the way then to the mall...once we were at the mall I noticed I left my wallet in my car which was parked at Yun-Gun's...no need for anymore details...LOL!!!!

--------------

4. 2Faces
Feat: Yung Sinn of AOD

I had wrote my 3 verses and Sinn pitched a beat he thought would fit that. We contiplated on the hook & Key Loc (of PBK) came with the first part of it. I finished writing it off and both Sinn & I laid the hook. We recored this track at my house in the room which has now become my son's room.

-------------

5. Blind Justice
Feat: Heist Gree-D & Key Loc

This was actualy the first song that was recorded for this album. Heist was fresh out the belly of the beast when we came togther and laid this one down. The intro to the song was done by Heist and the back up's were Heist, B-Dog & myself, Key Loc came though and laid his verse when we were doing the finishing touches on our parts.

--------------

6. Murderous Material
Feat: Yung Sinn & Neves (R.I.P) of AOD

This was a huge session, I mean everybody was there. We were doing two songs that day. Neves (R.I.P.) was a crack up when he was doing the hook. He came out of the blue with that "Blah" and we busted up laughing. Originaly I was not on this song, but we ran into a problem with the artist that was on the song so she was removed & I replaced her at a later date.

------------

7. North, South, East & West
Feat: Squab & Key Loc

This song was originaly for Squab's album and was pitched to me by B-Dog & Squab. This song was already done when I came though to drop my verse.

-------------

8. 415 To The 831
Feat: Kaoz the Assassin & Big Spank

This one was done out in Merced at Kao's house. We pretty much made a day of it and went to the mall out there and stuff. The hook to this one was the last thing that was recored for this album which came at a later date.

-------------

9. Thee Ungrateful

I had just gotten out of jail two days before this session and had some anger to unleash. This was a 10 a.m. session and I came though Yun-Gun's spot with a grip of video tapes to look for a sample that we could get off one of them flicks, we ended up with "A Few Good Men" sample.

--------------

10. End Of Days
Feat: SVN, Yun-Gun, E.O.T, Birdman and Yung Sinn & Neves (R.I.P.) of AOD

This was a just a crazy session over at Windjammer studio in Marina (see track #6).

Neves was lagging on writting his verse and Sinn & I cracked jokes about that...good times baby good times.

-----------

11. Lowrider In The City
Feat: B-Dog, Bigfoot & Yun-Gun

This song was just something B-Dog had on the back of his mind and had even drew a picture of a lowrider with a boomin' system crusing down the street. This was B-Dog's song for his own personal thang, but wanted us to get on it. I remember writting my verse and getting stuck...I glance over at the drawing B-Dog had drew and painted the picture on my verse.

Bigfoot was off some sticky icky icky and a bottle of jaggermihster. Yun-Gun was sitting at the table writting his verse drawing his own lo-lo and came though on the track. B-Dog is the one doing the hook on this one.

---------

12. Heaven Can't Wait
Feat Doom the Original

This song was something I was writting while going through some very rough personal times. I was writting this song and got up to two verses and ended up in jail on some old charges. I wrote the third verese while I was in there and came out ready to drop.

I got at the Homie Doom and he came through to drop the hook. When we went into record it, I had forgot how the beat even went, but was feeling it so much in my heart that I could of made it fit to anything.
LOL!!!! I remember dropping the first verse and really into it and all of a sudden Yun-Gun had to leave and take care of something so Doom and I had to leave and come back after an hour, but we came back finished that up with the same energy.

-----------

13. Count The Cash
Feat: Young Droop, Yun-Gun & Night Train

This was a very brief session and I remember having to run around alot, so I got there when Droop was finishing up his verse, we took a few flicks and I had to bounce somewhere (can't remember, but it had to be important) I know Yun-gun was giving me updates over the celly...I came through to drop my verse later.
Night Train came though and did his thang too.

----------

14. Time

This beat was pitched to me by Doom, said "if you can write something to it, go for it". It was originaly produced by him for an intro or outro...but it was formatted for three verses, so I spit to it.

Right when I finished laying my second verse I get a shocking phone call (in a good way), It was my girl and she say's (what sounded in sloooooow mooootion)..."YOUR GOING TO BE A DADDY!"
I must of had that look on my face or was just quiet for a long time, because I remember Doom asking "Are you alright?" LOL!!!!

Doom and Yun-Gun where the first to congrat me on that.

Once the news settled in and I was thanking God in my mind that I didn't faint...LOL!!!! we continued the session.

When I was done with the song, we felt it needed something, so Doom got up and laid the back up vocals on the hook. We recorded this one at Yun-Gun's.

I rushed home after this session...

-----------

15. Reminiscin' 97

This one is about my Dad's passing back in 1997.

This was the only sampled beat on the whole album. I had to write this one by myself and had a real hard time doin' it. After numorous attempts to record it right I finaly got it done at Yun-Gun's.
This is the song that guided me though this album, made me view the direction I was taking the album as a whole. The outro to the song is my nephew Birdman saying some things straight from the heart with no written or rehearsed words, all real with one take.

-------------

16. The Lost World
Feat: Young Blaze, Squab & Doe Doe

Squab and I finaly collab on song from the start. Young Blaze and I go way back and caught this open slought to put him on.

Squab was recording his verse and later was cracking jokes on the mic making us laugh and turned it into a comedy night for about two hours...when we all settled and finished up the song my little nephew Doe Doe was sittng around wanting to get on the song.

I wrote a little something for him, he spit it and it was a done dada.

This track was recorded at Windjammer studio in Castroville (moved from Marina).

Hey B-Dog, "Could I talk in the beginning?" LMAO!!!! (inside joke).

-----------

17. Sometimes They Say (Who's They?)
Feat: Ju-Ju, Yun-Gun, Doom the OriGinal, Valeria, Key Loc, Big Spank, SVN, C-Tru, PlayaRae, Superior 1, Fury, Dre Nitty & Young Dru

This was a all out song that Yun-Gun had came up with the idea for a while back. My view on it was "We all here from the 831 representing to the fullest and letting them know we all connected in one way or another". Showing love and representing 408 and D.U.G.O.U.T. was the Homie PlayaRae.

I think Doom would have a better outlook for this track since it was produced by him and recored in it's entire at his spot.

--------

18. The Good Times That Follow

This was the over coming song that closed the album and closed the chapter in my casualties throughout the album. Like the others songs this is real and I hold no barriers on this.

My mom had gone through brain surgery and this album tells the story that takes you through my life during that period.

Doom came through on the beat for this one and really got the sound I was looking for.

A mutal friend of ours Melissa did the back up vocals on this with Doom's guidance. This was recorded at Yun-Gun's.
