cooler Thread.
Mir gefällt das Lied von Trae, passt zu seiner ohnehin schon etwas tieferen stimme das noch ein bißchen tiefer zumachen. Die anderen Lieder gehen so, aber das Trae Lied ist richtig geil gemacht

this is a topic i made about how a good screwed album should sound :
LeanSippa hat geschrieben:
ok...since we always say that dj is tight, and that dj is wack...
it would be nice to have a good definition of what is tight and what's not...
how should a screw sound to you?...whats important?...mixin?...blendin?...scratchin?...
are some screws not slow enough and others too slow?...choppin?...do ya need to hear freestyles?...etc...
lets debate people...

The Exorcist hat geschrieben:
I think freestyles on these slowed mixes is jus pointless cuz 99.99 % of these muhfuckas dont freestyle & probally cant. As far as bein a good DJ I think the majority of it is TRACK SELECTION, SOME SONGS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE CHOPPED UP. Some shyt should jus be slowed & left the fuck alone. The rest of it 2 me is how long the DJ can shut the fuck up & play the fuckin song

screwhead100 hat geschrieben:
if your gona be a slow dj u gota go all out.......no half assin'...........no half slowing it down, its gota be slow as molasses.......and about what exorcist said some songs should not be touched and certain songs should just be played slowed down and not chopped at all................but if you are gona touch it dont just put in predictable chops and chops better not be the only thing your doin..............i wanna hear mixin, blendin, scratchin, voice overs..........ect........the works........

southtexrep hat geschrieben:
blending, mixing, scratching, not screwing it up TOO much, that's what makes a good "Screwed" album...

roweezy hat geschrieben:
WACK:
- 2 much talkin by dj
- poor dj skills:mixin, choppin, etc.
- poor flow of music and poor choice of song order
- choppin songs that shouldnt be touched and not touchin those that should
- using cds for a particular track when it is decently available on wax. an exception is if a vinyl copy is extremely rare and low in pressings.

TIGHT:
pretty much the opposite of wack

in between those two are dj's in training to become tight.

XXoduz hat geschrieben:
Good thread...People always criticize DJ's but never say what they expect...

I would like to see more blending, incorporating some DJ tricks into their mixes, and *gasp* ACTUALLY SCRATCHING A MIX...Bringing shit back and just chopping it does nothing for me

mistasofly hat geschrieben:
Too much double beating and repeating. Alot of dj's when they slow down their mixes thats all they do. I'd like viriety scratching mixing, blending but not to much. the one main thing these DJ's dont understand is not everything has to be chopped up. It's so annoying when I'm jammin an above ground released screwed and chopped album and EVERY single fuckin song is chopped up that's why I only stick to the regular versions now

aegreatone hat geschrieben:
I like my dj's to be "well rounded". Basically a well rounded dj must have good skillz in scratching, mixing, blending, crossfading, and knows when to add dj effects like flaring, echos, and other stuff. Tracklisting is not really important to me as long as the dj can make it sound good and keeps the transactions smooth and nice.

Now...as far as the slowed down and chopped dj's...mayne...these are what i like to call "2d" dj's...2d only has two planes. 2d works for drawings, art, anime, and video games..not for djing.

CC hat geschrieben:
The thing that turned me away from s&c albums is that some songs just aren't meant to be chopped. Just because it's an S&C album, why not just let some songs play through? It'd also be nice if there was some continuity between songs. I realize there are some space issues, but maybe have the songs blend together. I've only listened to a few S&C albums, so I really don't know how they are done anymore, but from the ones I've heard those were my main gripes. Also, I love scratching. I'm not talking about some random jiggling the record, I mean real scratching.
blingCR hat geschrieben:
first and foremost the song has to be good...shitty song = shitty mix...we see too much of that
second of all...you rarely can make a song that's MADE to be screwed...ok, so we saw some of the "founding fathers" pull it off back in the day...those days are over...you can't force that shit
third...the blending of what's popular right now and slowin it down just doesn't work...dj screw didn't just fill a tape up with the latest shit...it clashes...besides mose of that crap is meant for the radio...if i wanted to hear it i'd tune in. sure, sometimes there's a bangin ass song that's' new and everybody is feelin it and that might fit in...and screw did that, but it wasn't loaded with everything off the radio's playlist
ok...fourth...kinda related to the third...the problem with today's "slowed down" dj's is they're not goin with their hearts, they're in a hurry to be the first one to chop up the new 50 cent. or choppin it up cause so and so chopped it up and they want to now...they're not chopping up songs they into...they're choppin up what they know ppl are gonna know and that's a damned shame.
fifth...once again related to the previous...seems they're trying to squeeze as many tracks on a cd as possible. whats the rush? if its good shit and you're feelin it, let it ride, and other people gonna feel it too. shit, there's screw tapes with an entire 50 min side being one track, and sides of tapes with just a few songs on them. seems to me they're not trying to showcase their skills and show what they can do with a track; instead it looks like they're just tryin to get it on there to say they got it chopped up...alongside the fact that there's a greater chance someone will at least like one of those short tracks on there.
sixth...themed mixes are cool, its a unique idea...yet this entire slow jam cd crap is overkill...and that seems to be about as unique as these guys get, none of the other cds gel at all...none of the tracks have anything to do with each other, one song is about a candy shop, the next is about lil flip dissing another rapper, the next track is about some goodies, the next is a freestyle with some guys that work at wal mart braggin about how they got boogers made of diamonds and they're ballers, etc...its just crap slapped together
seventh...these mix cd's are just fundraisers in hopes that the dj/crew/whatever will be able to sell enough of those to actually get some studio time and try to maybe be able to make some wack songs. i just don't see a lot of effort in them and i don't see that they were really done for fun either, screw did the shit cause he loved it...these ppl seem to be following a formula...its all slowed down politics

there's so many things that can be discussed...i know i named more things WRONG than right, but...it just seems to me a lot of people in it to jump on a bandwagon and ride on out on it

#1 from this forum i realized i talked 2 damn much on my music'yuh dig
thas real shit!o ima adjust to what the consuma wanna hear......

#2 U have 2 study THE music!!!!!!! Lil wyte & Frayser boys 1st albums where the 1st chopped juntz i did!ive always been the one to slow & blend my shit. But i have 2 admit I HATED THAT I SLOPPED my first chopped project.Mannnnnnnnn!i remba bein in the studio w'Paul and he told me to gon'head and chop dem juntz..No Bullshit!it took me 1day to do both albums....I Blended and mixed well...but if u listen to they albums I CHOPPED ON EVERY SNARE....and that was bullshit.....
STUDY THE MUSIC!

#3 Where the DJ's not CDJ's where the Dj"s!!! I use vinyl on erythang i drag & chop..If no vinyl of song...I have the vinyl made! I use Numark TTX1's Turntables equivalent to the Tech 1200's but they go a -50% pitch so u can do it live like dat boy SCREW did!

#4 Make sure the music is meant to be chopped and is right speed!(Be on the lookout for slower Lil Wyte Phinnaly Phmous Draggen N Chopped, cuz the 1st issue wasnt slow enough.)
U can tell if a song isnt gonna sound right chopped and screwed. slow it down 1st and when chopped if u can hear just a lil bit of dead air btweenchops...its 2 slow.....or not meant 2 be chopped......

Thas just my opinion niggaz!

blending, and when a guy makes a good point in his rap or say's something throad then repeat it, don't just repeat ( chop) on b.s

Wundalandz hat geschrieben:
a real mixtape is also gon have mistakes & people fallin off the mic....theres not 1 damn DJ Screw tape that was 100% perfect....i hate it when it sounds like someone went back over the songs & cut & paste to make the track sound perfect, dont be afraid to make mistakes...thats all i can add to whats already been said

i'm feelin' everyone's comments & suggestions within this thread - but i think i'm feelin' BlingCR's the most.

he breaks everything down - true, most of it was on the negatives - but he got his point across.

i NEVER could stand mixtapes/cd's with the d.j. yakkin' all the way through it - i didn't put down my money just to hear the damn d.j.!

but again, alot of very valid points are being made in this thread.

read and learn how it should be done...lol... ;)
