Mr. Cas
Anfang der 90er, da hatte er seine große Zeit. Mit der New Breed Of Hustlas konnte Mr. Cas zwei echte Underground-Klassiker verbuchen: “Ratha B A Hustla” und “Streets Got Me Gone” lässt man heute noch gerne laufen. New Breed Of Hustlas in Neubesetzung!
“Streets Got Me Gone” is a straight up classic to many fans – tell me how you put that album together and how your situation looked like back then.
Well, we knew we wanted to come harder on this album than on the “Ratha B A Hustla” album. So we hooked up with some producers that was responsible for the Geto Boys hit single “Mind Playin Triccs” and formulated this album into a classic. Our situation was good. We was doing our music and getting our hustle on!
Who was in the group at that time?
Well, G-Bubz, Silk Smoothe and Baby Fresh grew up together. They hooked up wit me and we made it official.
Why did the crew break up?
We seperated for a lil’ while and everybody went through their own little mishaps. But we were planning on a reunion.
Is it true that G-Bubz died some time ago? What happened?
Yeah, the homie passed away, rest in peace. He suffered from stomach cancer and finally lost the battle.
You dropped an album called “Connected” last year. Tell me about it…
“Connected” was a compilation revealing some of the artists on RepThatEnt. It featured artists such as Hotshot, Baldy Loc and of course me, Mr. Cas.
Is Repthatent. your own label?
Yes, RepThatEnt. was founded by me. I didn’t want to deal with the shadyness of the industry so I started my own independent label to ensure that I control all of my music.
What about your hometown Riverside: where do you reside at and how’s life there?
Well, the Riv is the Riv! I love it, that’s my hood. But I now live in Victorville where I bought a home. I put me a recording studio inside so I can make music 24/7. Then if I feel like I want to take a trip to the hood I hop in the whip!
Do you have a notable rapscene over there?
Oh yeah the Breed and Mr. Cas holds it down everywhere. We making noise and getting ready to explode back on the scene in full force!
Why does it take you so long to come out with the Mr. Cas’ solo joint?
Timing is everything! I was supposed to release it last year but the time wasn’t right. This album is gonna be another classic so I had to be patient with it. Sorta like when Dre does a chronic album he takes a while ’cause he wants it perfect. Same here. But it is finished and will be dropping soon!
How is the album going to sound like?
With this album – “Pain Da Masta Piece” – you will get to see a side of Mr. Cas that you didn’t see with the Breed. I just let my heart speak for me on this one. And that is why I called it a masterpiece. Cause that is what it will be. Just like a Beethoven symphony or something! *laughs* I have production from the homie Baldy Loc, he just produced some hot joints on Snoop Dog’s new album. I got the westcoast don Binky Womack, he produced a hot track on there called “Wes Wes”, that song is gone kill ‘em! I got some heat on there from Cracca Jac, one of the producers on the Breed’s first album “Ratha B A Hustla”. This album is straight heat – so y’all get ready for it! This album will solidify my position as one of the top artists, no question. I’m long over due for my props and this album will secure that.
What else do we have to look out for in the future?
Well, the new album from the New Breed Of Hustlas will follow my solo album. Long live Da Hustlas! Y’all ain’t ready for this one. Armed with two new members in the group – Hotshot and K.I.N.G., also RepThatEnt. artists. This new album will pick up where the “Streets Got Me Gone” left off. But on a whole other level. And 2008 RepThatEnt. artist and Breed member K.I.N.G will drop his solo debut. And I will be doing my follow up album also in ’08! So you have plenty to look forward to from RepThatEnt. We blowing up!
Alright, thanks for taking the time. Is there anything you’d like to add?
Yeah, I just want to say thanks to all our and fans who support us. We gone keep making this dope music for you. And can’t forget my homeboy Hardiss! He be holding me down. We still got to get that song crackin’, so homie get at me. RepThatEnt. till the world blows up – we out!
