Dudley Perkins
What’s the “Message Uni Versa” in a nutshell?
The “Message Uni Versa” is a message for the universe *laughs* For all things, all states, all times and vibrations of the universe. It’s a message out to the universe. And if there are ears in the universe that can actually hear and observe this music like humans – it’s for the humans.
And are there certain incidents that made you feel that it was necessary to come up with this message?
Being in life and seeing alot of things not going according to plan. Like alot of death, destruction, disease, hate, war and killing of babies – which is one of the bigger things. After a while of seeing things, you can’t just draw it on paper no more, you have to think it out. Take those guys in the hood. Maybe they hear me through this music and hear what our message is through this music.
If I had to pick ma favourite song of the album, it would be “War Drums”. So – which song has the most of you two in it?
Well, every song has the most of us in it. It’s a unit. This is a part of our army right here. We’re fighting. The album is strictly for war. The album is war drums. It’s both of us partaking this message – we’re all out warriors for this. We were both driving the ship at all times.
So when will you spread the message over here and come to Germany again?
I’ve been alot of times in Germany. I was with Groove Attack. I love Germany. So we’re trying to get a tour together at the end of this year. Because in that way we have the chance to get personal with people to spread this word. We’re on this mission, we’re about to help stop this war. And when this war stops, we gonna help keep wars stopping. *laughs* That’s internal wars, that’s outer wars. That’s all wars and any conflict. We’re about to bounce that out through the sound of harmonious music and drums and stuff.
What about the people that come to a G&D concert? Is it still the average hiphop crowd?
We don’t know yet. We haven’t had a G&D concert yet. *laughs* The album is not yet released. But we’re open for missions and venues to speak at. Whether it’s radio stations or whatever. Anything that needs help – we there!
You seem to be very happy with your current situation as an artist – is that right?
It’s not about being happy … I’m more comfortable with what I’m doing now and the messages that I bring. We’re also more comfortable with the music that we create with the message.
What has changed?
We’re relaxed with the messages. We’re not afraid to say what we have to say.
Do you have any other projects in the pipeline besides the G&D album?
After we released this one on people, we have two other albums coming back-to-back. It’s the Georgia Anne solo album and also my new solo album. It’s taking off where G&D left off. But it’s more pinpointing on society. Escpecially Georiga’s album will be focussed on egotism and the ills of the United States society. No finger-pointing type of music, just the same message like on the previous albums.
