D-Money
Your new album “Nimissis Project” has been released recently. What do you serve on this one?
Yes, my 2006 release. I released that as soon as I stepped foot back on the streets again after servin’ a two year sentence. I knew it was going to be heated, but I didn’t know how much I had to consider. I had been away from the lab for so long. Thats what the song “Just Touched Down” is about.
How did you hook up ith First Degree? – if I got things right you’ve already been featured on “F.U. Vol. 3″…
Yeah, that’s right. “F.U. 3″ was a masterpiece creation from the homie First Degree the D.E. It’s kinda crazy how I hooked up with him. I had met up with Gunotti from C-Way Muzic. He’s connected with some big undergroud names in the business. He told me about myspace, ’cause I wasn’t on it then. And he was like “you can get ahold of alot of major artist through myspace”. I was like “Wut! For real?” He was like “hell yeah my nig…” And on top of that he also introduced me to a legend in the rap game which was Big No Love, the CEO of C-Way Muzic. Me growing up, all I listend to was First Degree the D.E., Brotha Lynch Hung, X-Raided, Master-P, 2-Pac and of course E-40. You know your gonna bump the other artists associated with them but that’s the main genre right there. Anyways, their wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t have him in my deck smashin at night time, so it was only natural that he was the first one that I looked up. Shure enough – bow – his page popped up, I requested him as a friend and hollered at him. He responded, I told him what was up with my new album. He was like “cool”, met up with me at a gas station an we been choppin’ it up every scence. After he was featured on my album, about a month later he hit me up an told me he wanted me to be on that “F.U.3″, and it’s been lovely every scence. *laughs* Shots out to the homie First Degree The D.E. good lookin’ on everthing man. Real talk. That’s love right there.
You’ve already dropped a couple of albums – tell me about your earlier releases…
My first album was called “Carnivorous Amphibian” which featured my cousin D-Naz, my homeboy Moe-AB an another artist witch I don’t care to mention. I had got locked up shortly after that and was released three months later. My second album “Metamorphissis” was just me along with my third album “Eclipse: The Raw Footage”. My fourth album was “The Gelowtean”. I named it that because I was fin’ to chop alot of muthafuckas heads on that one. You see there was alot of beef issues that needed to be addressed. So I did that an had alot some old friends along with family join me. Once again, I had features from Moe-AB, my cousin Nino B.K.A. Two Face, my cousin R.B., my cousin Bo Diggi an some other dudes. It was another heater with heavy bass and deep lyrics. While promoting that, I got locked up again. And two years later we got the “Nimissis Project”…
Where can people get these albums from?
*Laughs* Good question… I had a feeling you was going to ask me that. Due to bullshit contracts, that’s why my shit isn’t on shelves nationwide and in other countries like it should be. My fans ask me that alot. Sorry for that y’all. But don’t even worry for one second. You know yo’ boy D-Money got you. I will be postin up a link on my myspace page so you can get them off of there through Paypal. Also I will have a P.O. Box again, so, it will be on and crackin’. Other than that, just holla at me. We’ll get it worked out.
Most people might know about Stockton from Black Rhino, D.O.A. or the Doja Click. What’s the current state of affairs in your city? Who’s hot, who’s not?
Well, I can tell you who’s hot that I listen to. As for the other people, I’ll let you be the judge. *laughs* My homeboy Trell Mix is hot. He doin’ all kinds of things you ain’t knowin about. Videos and everything. CD covers, you name it. He got about five albums out, too. Check him out. He’s on my friends list on myspace. My boy Winstin is off the hook. He comin’ out with his album soon. His beats be knockin, too. Uhm, I like C-Lim. He been doin the damn thang. There’s a couple of other cats that I heard some shit from, but I forgot their names. Their shit is bumpin’, too, though…
Do you think there’s something like a specific Stockton sound?
Uhm… not that I heard of. I’ve heard all kinds of different shit here. So many people got different styles, you never know what you gone get here. But it’s all westcoast though.
Are there any other artists signed to Carnivorous Records besides you?
There was. But I let them go when I was going through my legal situations. I had a couple of artist projects that I was producing. But I was like “it’s better to just let them go to another label and be active instead of sittin and gettin’ rusty while I battle this out in court, you know? They respect me for that. I was just looking out for their careers. I figured, if I was in their position, I would want the same thing. But I got a whole new team of artists in the works now. So look out. You will see their faces soon.
You’re already working on your sixth album – can you already give up any information on that project?
It’s called “The City Of Carnivorous”. It’s due this year. I’m not going to give up the features just yet. But I know you gone trip out and love it, ya dig.
Is there anything else coming from you that we should look out for?
Oh yeah! I got the “Graphic Nature Compilation” coming out on Halloween this year. Also the “D-Money In The Basement” album. It’s like a best-of project. But there will be a couple of new tracks on it that I haven’t put out yet mixed in with the street bangers that all my fans love. And I thank everybody for the suport. That’s real love. There’s other projects, but I don’t want to say unless it’s final, you know?
Alright, any last words for the people out there?
Yeah, get ready cause the era of Carnivorous is comin’ with resharpened teeth, ya dig! So be on the look out. One love to everybody that suports me and the Carnivorous movement. We ridin’ together y’all. Oh yeah, and if you want to holler or do business get at me on myspace – I’m out!
