hm wollt mir chronic schon lange holen. lohnt sich die wegen der bonus disc oder doch lieber den og?

Ich schätze mal das kommt darauf an, was du willst. Wenn du "Chronic" noch gar nicht hast, lohnt sich die Re-Lit Edition bestimmt, weil du bekommst das "normale" Album digital remastert und halt den ganzen Bonuskram.
Wenn du sie bloß regular willst, musste dich entscheiden welche du nimmst. Entweder die OG von 1992 mit original Sound oder eben die Digital Remastered Edition von 2001 (glaub ich). Letztere besitze ich, man hört den Unterschied auf jeden Fall. Also wenn du auf die digital bearbeitete Scheiße stehst, hol dir am besten direkt die "Re-Lit", lohnt sich halt am meisten.

will schon den original sound. ich hol einfach beide. von der og hätt ich am liebsten die longbox mit den papers drin

also die pre - re-lit sachen sind meist gar nicht so gut remastered. teils sogar von mp3's statt der original source aufbereitet.

merkt man zb. auch sehr stark bei der all eyez on me. die hintergrund töne etc. sind teils verschwommen. das album hört sich auch irgendwie blechern an im gegensatz zum "OG" release von 1996 (ob jetzt mit schwarz/weiss oder grün/weiss discs).

ich würde daher immer noch lieber auf das original von death row setzen oder ab Wideawake Death Row Entertainment releases investieren.

There's been a considerable amount of excitement about this reissue of The Chronic, but some of that excitement has been tempered by the announcement that the songs are going to be digitally remastered. In recent years, "remastering" has meant that the loudness of the track has been increased through dynamic range compression, often diminishing the sound quality from the original. Can you give us a brief explanation of what approach is being taken on remastering these songs, and how you expect that will improve the quality over the originals?

Lara Lavi:
Our financiers chose John Payne [a.k.a. "JP", co-founder of Death Row and the label's original Sound Engineer] to be in charge of the audio quality for the re-lit project. I leave it to him to answer this type of question. He was in charge of audio quality control. Hopefully everyone will be happy with his work.

John Payne:
"We're re-releasing "The Chronic," and it's going to be called, "The Chronic Relit." It will be remastered with a couple more songs that were done at that same time as well as a lot of footage and artwork. We're remastering it so that it works with todayÆs technology, but weÆre not changing the mixes or doing anything like that."

Lara Lavi:
"There's a couple of crown jewels on Death Row, one is The Chronic, the other is the entire Tupac collection and Snoop's camp, but Dre was the first artist released on Death Row and, in my view, the greatest hip-hop producer ever," said Lara Lavi, CEO of the Canadian company WIDEawake Entertainment, which purchased the storied California gangsta rap label's catalog in a bankruptcy auction last year for $18 million. "I think he's a genius, so we decided to honor Dr. Dre, honor the authentic O.G., and put out a digitally remastered album back to the original sound Dre intended."
