Self & Kind" Back On The Agenda For Kam

With his overt sociopolitical/spiritual stance, somewhat rare for a West Coast rapper, Kam's angst-ridden brand of hardcore rap helped set the mark by which other socially-conscious emcees would be judged.

Originally affiliated with Ice Cube, Kam's releases appeared sporadically, initially debuting on the Boyz N the Hood soundtrack (Every Single Weekend), and then releasing his first solo album, "Neva Again" (1993, on East/West Atlantic Records).

His powerful sophomore release, "Made in America" was released to critical acclaim in 1995, although a lack of commitment from the Label, due to the merger between Warner/Elektra/Atlantic (WEA), and his political stance at the time, eventually led to his departure.

The talk surrounding his latest album, which will be his fourth album - the follow up to 2001's "Kamnesia," has been ongoing for many years now. "Self & Kind" was originally announced and then completed some years ago however problems arose that saw the long awaited project scrapped. Today however, with his recent alignment with Snoop Dogg and his new group Warzone alongside Goldie Loc & MC Eiht, "Self & Kind" is back on the agenda.

Already well under production the album is set to feature Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Tyrese, The Game, Akon and other heavyweights with production set to come from DJ Pooh, BattleCat, Sir Jinx and even Dr. Dre. Only time will tell how this release comes together and when it gets released however we are confident "Self & Kind" will see the light of day later this year.

Today we can provide a track set to feature on the album that has been floating around for a few weeks now that features Kam's brother Yung Bruh on a cut called "Dirty West." We have both the Dirty & Radio versions available for download below, DJ's make sure you get a copy and help promote Kam and "Self & Kind."

News zu ein paar verschiedenen neuen Alben:

Zitat:
Traffic Entertainment's August Line-Up Includes Releases From J. Dilla, Raekwon, AZ, & More
Traffic Entertainment Group will be offering a host of new releases this August 7th, with lots of heavy hitters on deck. Release dates are, of course, scheduled to change. - Pizzo

AZ - The Memphis Sessions
Fresh off his critically-acclaimed album "The Format", AZ returns once again to bless his fans with a unique offering entitled "The Memphis Sessions", a two disc set where each disc stands on its own. Disc One combines AZ's effortless flow with some of the most funky and soulful tracks you'll come across. The second disc is comprised of all new, never released AZ cuts that sound as good on the streets as they do in the club. The result is pure start to finish listening pleasure for the audience as AZ's most popular acapellas are blended with beats reminiscent of 1970's Memphis. The success of Guru's "Jazzmatazz" albums proves that combining Hip Hop with other genres of music is a cutting-edge theme that's bound to be more common in the future.

Raekwon - "House Of Wax: The Vatican Mixtape Volume III"
The material on "House Of Wax" is older (that vintage Wu/RZA sound), and has been previously never heard or released. Rae hand picked these joints, 31 tracks strong and purposely left untitled... featuring RZA production and guest shots from Wu Tang brethren, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Old Dirty Bastard, Masta Killa as well as Hip Hop royalty Havoc (Mobb Deep), Fat Joe & Smif N' Wessun. As long as Rae sustains such momentum and relies on the RZA for the majority of "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II", he could have another classic album in the books. Until then, "House Of Wax" is a nice appetizer until The Chef cooks up his main course.

J. Dilla - "Jay Deelicious: Originals, Remixes, & Rarities"
Jay Dee, aka J Dilla, emerged as a Hip Hop producer to be reckoned with in 1995 when his name was attached to the first single from The Pharcyde's eagerly anticipated sophomore album Labcabincalifornia". Drop the needle on his first Pharcyde production "Runnin" and you have the launch point of a producer's career that mesmerized, titillated and expanded the domes of Hip Hop fans for the next decade. "Jay Deelicious: Originals, Remixes & Rarities" documents Jay Dilla's early production on Delicious Vinyl.

Working closely with The Pharcyde and Michael "Mike Floss" Ross, (Delicious Vinyl's founder), Jay Dee was instrumental in keeping The Pharcyde's second album as ear poppin' and bugged as their maiden classic "Bizarre Ride To The Pharcyde", stepping up big time after the group parted ways with "Bizarre" producer J-Swift. In addition to original productions and remixes for "Labcabin", Jay Dee skillfully worked with the label on incredible mixes for the Brand New Heavies, as well as unreleased remixes for former BNH singer, N'Dea Davenport. From the jazzed out Rhodes syncopation of "Sometimes" featuring Q-Tip, to the crazy cutting up of "Got To Give It Up" for "Saturday Night" featuring Mos Def, Jay Dee shows there's no tempo he can't freak on some otherworldly jazzed up funk tip. So put on your head phones and take a trip into the early work of a Hip Hop master. Umm Umm JayDEElicous! In respect to Dilla's legacy, all proceeds from the sale of this release will go to Maureen (Ma Dukes) Yancy.

Nashawn - "Mass Destruction"
When one of the Hip Hop's most legendary names co-signs a fellow rapper, you know that emcee has to be special. Even though they are cousins, Nas and Nashawn are also peers in the Rap game who have appeared together on numerous tracks. In fact, Nas was so impressed with his cousin's skills on the mic that he enlisted Nashawn's help on his "Nastradamous" and "Stillmatic" albums. Now it's time for Nashawn to step out and create his own legend. "Mass Destruction" is the new effort that Nashawn hopes will help him do it. This current Bravehearts member blesses the masses with 20 brand new tracks. Shying away from the current trend of "a million" guest appearances, Nashawn lets his skills speak for themselves. He is joined by his cousins Nas and Jungle on two tracks but reps the rest by himself. If you're a fan of the Queensbridge sound that Nas, Mobb Deep, Cormega, Tragedy, Capone, and Lakey The Kid have made famous, then you'll definitely be a fan of Nashawn.

Frank N Dank - "European Vacation" DVD+CD
In November of 2005, Europe was exposed to one of the greatest shows to ever hit the continent's soil. The J Dilla tour landed featuring none other than Frank N Dank and DJ Rhettmatic, and it was nothing but mass hysteria from beginning to end. Blunts, stunts, jokes, good music and history in the making was what went down. Witness an exclusive behind the scenes look at what it's like going on the road with these artists, which would end up being the last time J Dilla would grace fans with his presence. Hear the music and feel the vibe as we take you on a journey to the land where Hip Hop is alive and well. Welcome to Frank N Dank and J Dilla's "European Vacation". Included with the DVD are three music videos (for "What Up", "MCA" and "Nice 2 Meet You") and a bonus CD that has eight brand new FND tracks.

KRS-One's Son Found Dead in Atlanta

Death of Randy Hubbard Parker, 23, ruled a suicide. Rest in Peace.

Randy Hubbard Parker, 23, the son of hip-hop icon KRS-One and his wife, Simone G. Parker, has died of an apparent suicide. He was discovered in his Atlanta apartment over the weekend. According to his mother, he had long suffered from "severe depression..."

Parker was born July 18, 1983, in Queens, NY. He had moved to the Atlanta area to seek work as a graphic designer and a fashion entrepreneur. A private memorial will be held for Parker on July 18, what would have been his 24th birthday, with a New York memorial service to follow.

According to a statement, "KRS-One and Simone Parker send their sincere appreciation to everyone who has already responded to the tragic news."

Condolences and prayers may be sent to Shane Lynch at frontpageshane@gmail.com.

Rapperin Foxy Brown verschwunden

Jazzy Jeff Plans "The Return Of The Magnificent"

Today DubCNN adds to it's growing Reviews section with another fresh addition. This time we have critiqued the recently released Jazzy Jeff project, "The Return Of The Magnificent." The album offers a generous dose of conscious Hip-Hop, and sees Jeff tale helm as producer.

"The Return Of The Magnificent" also boasts high-profile appearances from the likes of Method Man and Kardinal Offishall . In this review we decide if such collaborations are ultimately worth checking out.

"The Return Of The Magnificent" receives the Dub Quotable: "Jazzy Jeff may be immortalized as the person hauled off the Bel-Air property, but those who refuse to take ‘Jazzy Jeff, the Hip-Hop honorary’ to heart are doing themselves a great disservice.

It's been a minute since the West has heard from names like Slip Capone, Knoc-Turn'al, or Time Bomb. All of them were signed to L.A. Confidential Records, which was headed by Big D. One of the label members, Slip Capone, was supposed to have his big debut with his album "Caponey Boy", which had completed songs with Nate Dogg, Dr. Dre, and other big names.

"My album never dropped due to different reasons." Slip told Dubcnn.com. "For one, there were a lot of creative differences. People want to put you in a box and make you a certain image.

But I'm way more than a gangsta rapper. I'm a gang member but I can rap my ass off about everything, not just jerry curl music. That was one problem, but there were a lot of haters in the mix. Not artists wise, but behind the scenes. The problem was the management and the people handling the business. I mean how can you have Dr. Dre, Nate Dogg, Aaron Hall on your album, but the album never drops? You can tell that it had nothing to do with money or how dope the record was. It's obvious that you have to be some kind of hater to not put out a record with all those names. The business just wasn't right, so I'd rather just walk away."

Today, Slip is currently putting together his upcoming project called "Kill The Industry". As far as features you can expect Bad Azz, Daz and Kurupt, Aaron Hall, and other, even international, guests. Production on "Kill The Industry" was handled by S-Dog, Dae One and other upcoming producers. "These are all West Coast guys that ain't Dr. Dre yet, but I guarantee you, they will be!" Slip continued.

Dubcnn has some old and some new audio from Slip Capone. We got two tracks from the new project "Kill The Industry", as well as two exclusive tracks from his unreleased "Caponey Boy" album, one of them being "Mind On My Money" featuring Nate Dogg with production by S-Dog.

Statik Selektah Album
