Lil' Flip Still With Columbia, New LP Coming 06.02.2004

Despite rumors circulating that Lil’ Flip had severed ties with Columbia Records, the rapper will release his sophomore album through the label next month.

“Lil’ Flip is [still] on Columbia,” a source with the label told AllHipHop.com via e-mail. “His new record hits streets on 3/23.”

Though the rapper’s first album, Undaground Legend, struck platinum, promotion waned following the release of the video for the first single, “The Way We Ball.” A second video was never released.

Lil’ Flip, however, continued to promote himself as he collaborated with several high-profile rappers such as Three 6 Mafia, Juvenile, and The Neptunes. Most recently, the Houston native worked with David Banner; Last year, the duo tentatively announced they would partner for a full-length album.

But before fans line up at records stores to purchase a Flip and Banner album, the rapper will release U Gotta Feel Me, the follow up to his major label debut album.

The first single, “Game Over,” has been released in the Houston native’s hometown. The song has even been adopted by the Houston Rockets and can be heard during their games.

Flip said drew his inspiration for the song from sports. As an avid fan he wanted to create a song that harnessed energy much like the crowd of a sporting event.

“I wanted the song to have the energy of the Compaq Center after the Rockets wins,” the rapper said in a statement.

U Gotta Feel Me is scheduled to arrive in stores March 23. The double CD will feature Cam’ron, Ludacris and production by The Neptunes.

Kevin Liles Leaving Island Def Jam 06.02.2004

Def Jam's Kevin Liles has resigned from his position as president of the label, after negotiations between the mogul and parent company Universal Music Group broke down.

According to The New York Post, the two sides could not reach an agreement on a contract extension.

The negotiations broke down over money.

Last week, Island/Def Jam's CEO Lyor Cohen left the label for Warner Music Group.

"Kevin has been in negotiations with Warner as well," a source close to the negotiation process told AllHipHop.com. "They were both being courted by Warner."

The source added that Liles will most-likely head to Warner Music Group as well.

Liles will remain at Island Def Jam until March. He is penning a book about hip-hop management, which is due in stores in 2005.

This news is courtesy of Shade Sheist...Nate decided to scrap the earlier album that was completed and start from scratch again to let Dr. Dre executive produce it! That's the reason for the long delay to his third release. Nate and Dre, you can't touch that combo right there. Hopefully we will have more news on it soon. This was posted up by Shade aka INGLEWOOD on the PYO forum...check that out, you never know what you'll stumble upon.

Big Daddy V Update! - February 8, 2004

What's going on people? I'm back with a big update on the Compton OG himself, Daddy V! Daddy V has been getting alot of buzz on the internet lately, thanks to his outstanding songs on the Welcome 2 The Chuuch mixtape versions, aswell as his own numerous mixtapes, where he showcased both his singing and rapping talent. He's been hooking up with artists left and right, the latest collabos being with MC Ren & Big Rocc and RBX & Big Rocc, who he knocked out songs with this weekend.

Well he's not stopping! Daddy V has a range of upcoming releases, I'm gonna put ya'll up on most of them right now.
Well first off, ya'll probably heard about the latest release of Snoop Doggs mixtapes, "Welcome 2 The Chuuch Vol. 5" which is going to hit the streets real soon. As always, Daddy V has his own version of the tape, which features more songs by him, aswell as exclusive features by the likes of MC Ren, RBX, Tha Chill and Big Rocc to name a few. I'm gonna be back with some more details on this mixtape in a second.

That's not it as far as the Chuuuch goes though! Because aside from the actual mixtapes, Daddy V also has a very special treat for the fans. Throughout the whole time when the Chuuch mixtapes were recorded, Daddy V was always in the studio with his camera, FILMING the whole thing. All of this is gonna be turned into the "Welcome 2 The Chuuuch, Making Of, The DVD!, with video footage of the studio sessions, footage of Snoop with Sickamore, DJ Whoo Kid, the making of the P.I.M.P. remix, David Banner in L.A., aswell as Bad Azz, Nate Dogg, Warren G, June Bugg, RBX, E-White to name a few.
All of this should be coming out in a couple of months, definitely before the summer!

Another HUGE project to lookout for, is the Hub City Dwellers record. This is a actual ALBUM, consisting of a gang of compton artists, such as Daddy V, King Tee, Big Rocc, MC Ren, Suicide, Boss Hogg, Tha Chill, Doc C, Ghetto Blacc and more. This is gonna be off the hook, showcasting up and coming Compton talent mixed with the OGs. All of these artists are gonna come all together for a few songs, which will make like 10 min tracks, straight spitting. Lookout for more news on this in a few weeks, as its still in the beginning stages.

Also make sure to lookout for his countless mixtapes dropping:

- Gangsta Foe Life Mixtape
- G-Homies
- Rap Riders (FEATURING AN EXCLUSIVE EAZY-E SONG!)
- Long Beachs Finest

...and more.

And last but definitely not least, I have news on Daddy V's upcoming DVD, OG TV VOL. 2. After a great Vol. 1, which took you behind the scenes with some of the Wests finest, concert footage, smoke sessions, lowrider contests and making of videos just to name a few of the stuff included on the DVD.
Well Vol. 2 is gonna take you backstage with Snoop Dogg in New York, exclusive footage of James Brown, the Undercover Brother movie premiere, even more lowridering, concert footage of tha Eastsidaz, of Daz and a sneak peak into the happenings at the Roc The Mic Tour which took place this summer with Snoop Dogg, JayZ, 50 Cent, Sean Paul, Fabolous and more. We already have the cover of Vol. 2 up for ya'll, to view up, simply click here.

I will be conducting an interview with Daddy V this week also to get some more background information for ya'll on Daddy V, who has been overlooked for many years and is now finally getting some shine. Stay tuned!

You will also hear Daddy V with Bad Azz on our upcoming West Coast Unified Vol. 1 mixtape! Oh Boy!

FRONTLINE SIGN TO I.M.G.! - February 10, 2004

What's poppin' people? The New Bay has made another step forward, as the group Frontline, consisting of Locksmith & Left, have just signed a deal with bay area monster E-A Ski, a veteran in the game who has been producing hits for a decade now.
The label is called I.M.G. which stands for Infrared Music Group, ya'll gone be hearing alot more from IMG in near future, that's for sure.
We had the chance to catch up with both E-A Ski and Locksmith briefly to speak on this move. "Locksmith and Left are monsters on the mic, they got amazing talent and the potential to blow, and we got chemistry together. Just watch!", Ski said about Frontline.
Frontlines debut album is titled "Who Are You?" and is set to drop around spring time, hopefully in May. "Workin' with Ski is great, he put us up on a whole lot of game, we're kind of letting him take the lead, he produced some songs on there, aswell as Left, who handled the majority of the production.", Locksmith stated about the album.

So ya'll make sure to stay on the lookout for this album, we're going to keep you updated on any happenings regarding the record, trust that!

Ice Cube Readying New Album / Still In Talks With Dr.Dre 10.02.2004

He may be a movie star, with "Torque" and the hit "Barbershop 2: Back in Business" currently in theaters, but Ice Cube's not dropping the mic.

Indeed, the actor is diving even deeper into the world of breakbeats and hardcore raps as he begins his next solo LP......

"It's gonna be whatever it develops into," the West Coaster said of the LP. "We just started considering it. I'm gonna turn off everything, both videos and music, feel my inner thoughts and start writing a record."

Even as the frowning MC adds new chapters to his book of rhymes, he's not sure what label he'll record them for. Although he told MTV more than a year ago that he and his N.W.A co-founder Dr. Dre were close to finalizing a deal to bring Cube to Dre's Aftermath label, the two have yet to agree on terms.

"We haven't been able to come up with the right deal with Aftermath," Cube admitted. "Sometimes the hardest part of making these records, when you've got two superstars, is coming up with a deal everyone agrees on. So until we do, I'm considered a free agent."

When you're sitting pretty in Hollywood like Cube, you can afford to drag out negotiations. He's signed on for the "XXX" sequel, due next year, in which he'll star as an extreme secret agent — but not the Xander Cage character that Vin Diesel played.

"They're doing a new 'XXX' concept every time," Cube clarified. "It's cool. I'm glad to get in on the second rather than the fifth one. We're still working on the script. I want to tailor-make the part for me. I don't want to do what Vin did, ya know? Our movie should stand alone like his."

Speaking of standing alone, word is that Westside Connection's three members may go their separate ways due to friction in the group. While Cube wouldn't elaborate on the trio's rumored beef, he also didn't rule out trying to increase sales of their most recent album, Terrorist Threats.

"We think about puttin' tours together whenever time permits," he said. "My movie schedule is crazy. I don't want to run myself too hard, so we still tryin' to figure it out."

Andre3000: Indianerorganisationen fühlen sich beleidigt
12.02.2004 (Do) Redakteur: Arne2000
-------------------------------------

Tänzer in grüne Indianergewänder gekleidet. Im
Hintergrund war ein Tipi zu sehen. Ein Sprecher von
Andre3000s Plattenfirma entschuldigte sich für
den Vorfall bei den Indianerstämmen.

:ugly:

was sagte Koo Keith doch so schön zu outkast:

"Andre is working too hard for the label. I know what he is going through. I went through it with the label. I don?t think you have to do that much in rap to be accepted. You know the clothes and all that stuff. They pushed him to a certain level to feel that he has to be accepted. The pop audience accepted him because he?s more or less like a harmless person in the music industry. They accepted that look and that role. The day he becomes himself, become like a regular guy. Goes to the store and puts on a regular ball cap, they are not going to accept him. The pop audience wants to see him act more clownish. Rap has moved into like a clown faze. It?s not how good you are, its how silly you can act. That?s just, I think for the black rappers. I?m quite sure you laugh at that stuff."

:D

Lil Flip Starts Label, Sucka Free CEO Says Rapper Still Signed 2/14/2004

Lil Flip has started his own record label, Clover G Records and said that he is no longer signed to Sucka Free Records.

The announcement comes amidst a falling out between Flip and Sucka Free CEO Duane "Hump" Hobbs.

"Flip has gotten so greedy behind money," Hobbs told AllHipHop.com. "Flip has burned a lot of bridges in the South, thinking he's Tupac, acting all big headed. It's crazy."

Hobbs suggested that Flip refused to let other Sucka Free artists perform with him and felt that he deserved most of the proceeds for concert appearances.

"Flip's daddy got outta jail and started booking shows and collecting the money," Hobbs said. "His daddy said that Flip was tired from touring and needed a break. I gave him a few days off and then I find out that Flip is doing a big concert."

Hobbs said he confronted the rapper, who denied the charges. "I sent some people from the label behind him on a later plane. They catch him on the stage performing. He sees the boys from the label and tells security not to let them in."

Flip agreed the falling out was due to money. "If you say that we spent a million dollars on something, I want to see that," Flip told AllHipHop.com. "If we cool and you my homey, show me everything."

Hobbs called the situation unfortunate, because he was simply trying to allow his upcoming acts, Lil Ron and Young Red to gain exposure.

"We been doing this together for seven years," Hobbs said. "They helped you get your writing straight. I can see me and him falling out cause I wouldn't let him do the young boys like that. He's probably been doing this to the young boys for the longest. The song on the "2 Fast 2 Furious soundtrack is Red and Flip. Flip had the relationship with the people at Universal and he has the people thinking he's on the song by himself. Universal is stupid cause they can't tell it's two different artists. so now I gotta fight for Young Red's publishing."

Hobbs vowed to fight the entire situation in court, if the two men do not resolve their differences.

"I told Sony and Flip 'I got a label deal, not an artist deal.' I hope it doesn't go that far. The only way we gonna left him off Sucka Free is if Sony buys me out. He came to me as a child in middle school. I raised him and got him to where he is to this day. Go grab your lawyer and let's get this sh*t cracking. It's only gonna hurt Flip as long as I got the contract."

Singer Erykah Badu, who is currently touring with Floetry, is expecting again, according to New York's WQHT. The station reported that Badu was expecting her second child and that the father-to-be was none other than The D.O.C.....

The D.O.C. released his critically acclaimed platinum debut, No One Can Do It Better, in 1989 but shortly thereafter the rapper suffered a near-fatal car accident that crushed his larynx and severely damaged his voice. The rapper re-grouped and was instrumental in the formation of Dr. Dre and Suge Knight's Death Row Records as a ghostwriter. The D.O.C. attempted to revive his career in 2003 with the release of his third album, Deuce. Calls to Badu's label, Motown Records, were not returned at press time. Badu already has a 6-year-old son, Seven, by Andre 3000 of OutKast. The singer has also been romantically linked to Common in the past.

North Carolina MC Petey Pablo will be dropping his sophomore album Still Writing In My Diary: 2nd Entry in February on Jive Records.

The album will feature production from Kanye West, Lil’ Jon and Mannie Fresh and features his new hit single “Freakaleak.” Petey Pablo said, “Timbaland produced my first single and its real. Instead of guys falling in love and talking about girlfriends, I’m coming different…I go at it for what it is. People want somebody just to get busy with at the end of the show and I’m expressing what’s really on a man’s mind as far as that aspect is concerned.” Still Writing In My Diary: 2nd Entry also features Petey Pablo collaborating with Baby, TQ, Bubba Sparxxx, Young Buck, and Missy Elliott. Explaining the album’s concept, Petey added, “Everything that happens to me is a chapter in my life and pages of that and it’s a continuation of the saga that makes up Petey Pablo. It’s my joys and pains, the good and bad times of my life.” The album will also include an accompanying DVD with behind-the scenes footage of the down south spitter.
