This week in the Hip-Hop charts, Twista is on pace to be #1, Outkast still reigns supreme, Jay-Z falls out of the Top 10 while G-Unit climbs back up.
According to early reports from national accounts Twista's Kamikaze is poised to sell up to 200,000 units in this his first week. Lead by the mega hit "Slow Jamz" featuring Kanye West and Jamie Foxx, the LP is on pace to strike #1 -- a first for Twista.
This week, Hip-Hop's Top 10 triumvirate of Outkast, Jay-Z and G-Unit is no more. Now, Outkast solely holds it down for hip-hop with Speakerboxxx/The Love Below selling another 86,000 units in its 18th week according to Nielsen Soundscan. Despite an 11 percent drop, the ATLiens still grab Billboard 200's top spot. G-Unit is climbing back assisted by BET and MTV airplay for "Poppin Them Thangs". Eleven weeks into the charts, Beg For Mercy jumps up two slots to #13 with sales of 47,615 CDs according to the Hits charts. Hov's Black Album slips 5 positions from last week's standings in his 11th week, suffering an 11 percent hit to land at #15 with 46,556 copies sold.
While the heavyweights fall, Chingy and Juvenile both take a leap while Ludacris stands still. Boosted by Jackpot's third single, "One Call Away," Chingy's sales rise 23% in its 28th week moving 41,893 units on his way to double platinum. Meanwhile, Juve's "In My Life" is enjoying solid rotation and spots on 106 & Park and MTV2's Hip-Hop countdowns. In its 5th week, Juve The Great rises 12 spots to reach #23 with 32,589 CDs sold. Luda's "Spring Waterfalls" isn't causing his sales to flow. With a 2 percent hit, Chicken & Beer pushes 32,276 CD's according to the Hits charts.
Further down the charts, Westside Connection slip while Nelly deep dives. After climbing for a few weeks, Ice Cube, Mack 10 and WC's Terrorist Threats dip three slots to #21 with 34,762 units sold according to the Hits charts. In its 9th week, Nelly's Da Derrty Versions drops 9 slots to #46 with a 16% hit, selling only 21,398 units according to the Hits charts.
