A lot of folks throughout the south have seen you on your grind real hard over the past few years, can you please tell us about how you got in the game, where you from, and about your Wildlife camp?
Already mayne, I got in the game by hustling my demo at a community college I was attending at the time......I ran into T.Farris, who ended up becoming me and Mike Jones manager.......He got me on Dirty Third Record's "The Takeover".......the rest is history......I'm from Houston,TX by da way.....because of the way I flow, a lot of people dont think or believe I am from Houston. But I am, Houston, Tx, born and raised......Nawf Houston that is.....GREENSPOINT! My WildLife camp consists of Deetha Savor (my bro, and Co-CEO), Young Slugga (my younger bro) and Young Twinn. We finna start workin on "The Building of an Empire", The WildLife group cd....
You've been on the come up lately with your name starting to make way all the way to New york. being that New York is a market that is almost impossible for a southern artist to get any recognition in, what is it that helped get you in the door there?
I think the DJ Clue affiliation DEFINITELY got me in the door.....but once they DID listen, the fact that I have a little lyrical content didn't hurt either.
Can you tell us anything about your affiliation with DJ Clue's Desert
Storm 'South'?
Basically, we just workin man......I respect him for the legend he is in the game, and he respects me for my artistry.....Straight like that....We just cross-promoting and seeing what we coming up with right now.....
What are some projects you are working on? Who are some of the folks you have
been working with?
I just finished the "NEWprint 1.7", "Sittin Crooked in my Slab Vol. 1" with Dj Bull, we're currently workin on Vol. 2, "Down In Texas Vol. 2" with Dj Grip and Dj Since, "The Block 2 Block Mixtape", "All Flows" with Tite of T-Town Music, and Kiotti of Asylum Records.........mannnnn, just about erbody thats tryin to work with me man......oh yeah, we JUST JUST JUST finished the "Desert Storm South Mixtape" with me, DJ Clue,
and DJ Storm.....its HOT cutty.....fa real.....but like I said, DJ Bull and I are finna drop "Sittin Crooked..Vol. 2" in a minute, and Ima be droppin MAGNOmixes soon too.....I dont stop workin......Im workin as if NOBODY has heard of me. That's how I stay grounded.
What's your situation with Swishahouse now?
I dont have NO situation with them. I keep in touch with G-Dash(the CEO), that's it.
Do you speak with Mike Jones still? What about the other members of the old Swishahouse?
Naw, me and Mike Jones dont speak at all......I aint got no prob with him......I'm over that shit.....dat was 2004.....I'm on my grind real tuff right now.......He pulled moves, but life goes on......Im poppin up in all these magazines nowadays with NO PUBLICIST.........NO RADIO PLAY........strictly via the streets homie........I ain't got no machine behind me, its just me, my bro Deetha pulling strings, and my nigga Kinfolk-Joe being on the road with me grindin......by da way, check me out in the new Rolling Stone magazine......I made Top 7 MCs in Houston baby, with NO DEAL.....Im coming mayne.....But as far as the Original Swishahouse go, I don't see them as much no more......except for a few......I ain't seen Tiger, Pic, or Blyndcyde in a minute.....I seen Archie and Lester a few months back tho.......But Lil Mario be on da
road with me a lot nowadays, and as a matter of fact, me, him and DJ Bull might do some business in the near future, so be on da lookout for his new project......oh yeah, cant forget about my nigga A.D. He on lock right now, I been wantin to get dat boy address so I can shoot him a kite.....erbody keep dat boy in yall prayers.....
Now us not being from Texas and just being outsiders, we see a lot of beef there brewing almost constantly. what is it do you think that keeps artists there from coming together instead of standing so far apart?
Because over here in Houston, it's a crab-in-the-bucket effect going on.......but only in reverse......the peeps thats coming up, or done already came up, either aint tryin to help the next man come up, or they're actually tryin to KEEP them from coming up........so it ain't like da ones at the bottom tryin to pull da ones at the top down,
it's the ones at the top tryin to keep the ones at the bottom from comin up! Then besides that, niggas just pullin real fly ass moves......shit that's just really not street. Shit that a STREET nigga who SAY he a street nigga, shouldnt do.....yep, a lotta that going on.....
A lot of rappers these days are flexin their entrepreneur skills...you got any side hustles goin' on right now?
Well, I be doing a lil distribution, but nothin major.......I just do it for peeps Im close with in the game......mainly Dirty Third Records, along with my own label, WildLife Records. Im also finna get in to slanging cattle. Thats prosperous business. Besides hey, I'm from Texas!
