Soulja Boy's Swag Flu causes the delay of Kno's solo debut Death Is Silent

Soulja Boy and independent producer/emcee Kno aren't often the topic of the same conversation, but the fate of the Cunninlynguists producer's solo debut is now tied to Soulja Boy. Death Is Silent has been pushed back from October 12 to October 26 due to a barcoding issue.

"Due to a UPC issue, Death Is Silent will now be released 10.26.10 in physical stores instead of 10.12.10—pre-orders and digital release will be unaffected barring any more clusterfuckery," Kno explained on the QN5 message board. "In a nutshell, a Souljah Boy mixtape entitled “Swag Flu” was accidentally given the same UPC code as my album and of course, since I haven’t sold a million records, my release got pushed back to make room for his."

I leaked the record today via Bandcamp because a few online retailers fucked up and started sending out copies of the CD yesterday—and rather than have a badly ripped, free copy floating around all weekend with REAL fans sitting at home waiting on the pre-orders with no way to support, I decided to put it up now so at least people can stream it.

Greetings-

Due to an issue with production of the coffin boxes for the Obituary Edition of Death Is Silent, we have decided to go with an alternative shipping method. Although we had a hold on the pieces, the manufacturer still didn't have enough to fill the order and gave us the option to fill part of it now and the rest near Halloween which we obviously didn't think was acceptable.

We'll now be shipping the Obituary Edition in a black shipping box like the one in the attached photo.

If this is OK with you there's no need to do anything.

If this is not OK with you, please reply to this e-mail with the title "REFUND" before October 10th and include your purchase info to be refunded in full.

Please note that due to a UPC issue by the distributor (which some of you may have read about on QN5.com or the CunninLynguists' Facebook page) the physical retail date for Death Is Silent is now October 26th, which means the CD will not be available in stores until that date.

Shipping of pre-orders will now begin on October 11th and digital sales via iTunes etc. will still begin on October 12th.

Greetings Fans & Supporters-

As much as it pains me to write YET another one of these e-mails, an
additional company -- this time motivators.com -- has screwed the
pooch on handling orders placed nearly a month ago for completion of
some of the Obituary Edition boxed sets.

The keychains featuring album artwork are still not in hand as
motivators.com has informed of us of a "delay" in production, and
although I was holding out hope they'd resolve the issue so that there
would be no noticeable difference in shipping time -- here we are on
the 14th still without this particular product and with next week
being the earliest I can see getting the item in hand.

Between the issues with the coffin boxes I told you about earlier, the
"Souljah Boy" mishap and now the delay for keychains, you can
imagine my frustration regarding the release of this record --
pre-orders and otherwise. I appreciate ya'lls patience and am taking
this time to offer you 2 solutions:

A: An immediate refund. Reply to this e-mail with the header "refund"
and we'll process it immediately. If you'd still like to support the
record when it comes out in stores on October 26th it would be much
appreciated, but I'm not interested in holding anyone's hard-earned
money hostage because of other people's mistakes.

B: Patience and a download. In order to make your wait more tolerable
(even those who'll decide to get a refund), I have included a link to
my album in 320k MP3 format -- a hefty 195MB including all
instrumentals.

I'd love to ship the remaining boxed sets out now and send the
keychains separately later, but with shipping of the boxes costing up
to $10 domestically and up to $18 internationally plus customs forms,
etc. it just isn't time or cost effective to make that happen.

Believe me, nobody is more burnt up about these things than I am. It
isn't about the money -- I am very proud of this record and I want
everyone to be happy with the outcome. I am even providing my personal
cell number so that if you want to talk about it, you can call me and
discuss it.

We’re deciding on our distribution options next week, so we’ll have a release date soon after. Somewhere between February 15nd and March 29th, depending on turn-in dates, tour needs, etc.
