TECHNIEC is a longtime Longbeach representative who was best known for his appearances on Snoop, Daz Dillinger, Mack 10 and others albums. Original member of the LBC Crew and alongside the Dynamic Certified, Tech has been sittin back overlookin the game, awaiting his time to step in and get his shine. We last heard Tech on Mack 10's Da Hood compilation, and Tech is currently independent and working with Lil Flossy and Big C Style's label Rawway Inc. What label are you on right now and whos on the roster? Right now I'm independent. As far as on the roster, I got my crew which is Dynamic Certified [Pac Ten, Jerzy-J, Techniec]. Thats pretty much it. I linkin back up wit the LBC crew to do a project. Also I got a buncha things in the works right now, I been linkin up wit The Game, and we suppose to have a project crackin within this next year or what not. Other then that thats about it I jus been movin, tryin to get this independent project done. So are you workin wit Lil Flossy and Big C Styles new label Rawway Inc? Exactly, yeah. Big C Style, thats the LBC Crew project. It was planned to come out but it never did. So we might as well link up and do it the right way this time. There was an album that got recorded but it never seen the light of day. It's pretty much the same people, give and take a few. Most likely comin out independent, it depends on the situation. We just gonna do the album and wherever it goes from there thats how its gonna go. But right now it's lookin like we gonna go the independent route. When can we expect your solo album? 2004. Hopefully by like May, probly about the summer 2004. Thats already in the works right now. I just had to regroup, I learned alot about he game So what I'm gonna do is try and set up a foundation for myself and also backtrack and a couple of the pointers that I missed and just try do it big. So who's handling the production on that? Right now I got alot of in-house, which is a cat named Classic, I got the Discreet Merchants, the production crew, they kinda like real hip hop with it, and I got a few tracks from Jellyroll. Thats just to name a few right now I'm still out scoutin. So whats when up with you for the last couple years? We haven't heard to much music from you and you went off on your own way while everyone like Bad Azz, etc went to Doggystyle. With that, you know I cant say there was bad blood, but we just had different views on the situation as far as Snoop Dogg and the Doggystyle situation. I went off to do my thing, and i linked up with Mack 10, and the Hoo Bangin situation, which alot got caught up with the whole Priority situation, being brought up by Capitol and what not. From there I'm still down with him, he's still cool, but it was sorta like to the point where everybody just went off did they own thing. You didn't feel abandoned by Mack 10 since he left to Cashmoney? Nah, wasnt nothin like that. It was understood, dudes still a artist, so at the end of the day he had to make his bread too. So that was pretty much understood. Like I said everybody pretty much went on and do they own thing. Like with me, I really wasn't trippin, cause I never dropped an album. I just did a buncha features, which I had a album in the works, but if the situation wasn't right I ain't want the album to come out anyway. Maybe you did a good thing by not going the Doggystyle route, seein the situation Snoop is in right now with the label. And thats somethin that I picked up on early in the game, so thats sorta the reason why I parted. Like I said I don't hold no grudges, my motto is just "keep it moving." But right now my focus is just get in the streets, the last featured album I was on was Mack 10 Presents "The Hood", and a couple tracks wit Timbaland and all that. So you aint been active in the game since that album? Since "The Hood" I been just in the lab pretty much. Thats basically what I gotta do, try and set up a foundation, that way when people see me, they see me and I'm right. Its not just me poppin up sporadically here and there. So thats pretty much what I been on. Like I said I been still workin, workin with a couple cats, like I said The Game, I did 3 tracks for his album, hopefully you'll be hearing me on there, if politics don't get in the way. So I just been in the lab man, workin tryin to get my project as big as I can. You been workin with anyone else other then The Game? Like I said the LBC Crew, and my crew Dynamic Ceritifed. The LBC Crew through Big C Style. Other then that I been workin with, a few cats. My company consists of a multimedia type thing, as far as graphic art, album covers and things of that nature, I got a lil clothing line Im workin with too. We just designed this shoe, waitin on a prototype right now to come through, Dada footwear. I just been tryin to keep it in motion and keep it all across the board. Defenitely an album is in the works right now. Yeah since you aint been out there doin music theres a real big buzz you got among the fans. Hopefully I keep that. I'm definitely comin. Im a student to the game, so all this time I been learnin, so it can be ultra at the end of the day. Just sittin back and watchin. Have you worked with any Bay area or considered it? Thats defenitely in the works, scheduling and actually just linkin up with a few cats. All that gotta be but thats defenitely in the works. The Bay is pretty much the ones who still keepin it real to the West coast. Who are you feelin on the West Coast right now? The west coast is wide open right now, I really don't see too much. You got the Westside Connection comin out, they veterans to the game. My ears been shut waitin for somethin new to come out the west. Thats pretty much where I'm at, I'm just anticipatin all of the new generation cats to come out of the west. Whats your thoughts on the West Coast rap scene? It seems like theres alot of the older cats holdin back the new up and coming ones, so whats your opinion on that? I look at it like, one thing you gotta look at as far as West Coast rappers mostly all of em come from a hustling background. When you gotta hustle and it's been payin for so long you kinda wanna hold on to that. With that I cant really blame em, but when you look to everybody else on other side you gotta see its alot of money in puttin out new acts, and if they blow thats good for you. You ain't gotta do so much work. So thats what I see that alot of these older cats haven't quite realized yet. It could be just as big for them, if they put somebody new out. I don't see alot of that happenin. I can say that yea it's alot of em holdin back alot of cats out here that could really be doin somethin big. Its bad cause our outlet for the West is so slim, its not really a big outlet for us to come out and really do a major situation. Yeah basically all there is is...Dre and Snoop. Exactly. So you know I don't hold no grudges, its a hustlin game, and you gotta be on your P's and Q's to make somethin happen in it. So thats why I do what I do. I keep mashin and keep doin Techniec, at the end of the day its gonna be somethin huge. I think everybody that done came out that done got big they made theyselves. That's how I look at the game right now, I dont look forward to another man tryin to make what I do. It's all good tho cause it's comin back around and the streets is demandin' somethin new. Thats the lovely part about it the street gonn speak for theyselves. I'm defenitely tryin to be one of the cats that head that new wave of music that hit the West. Shape the new format for the west. So what are you tryin to accomplish in the game? Would you just be satisfied with a local success in Cali alone, or are you lookin to have people from coast to coast feel your music and be a mainstream success? That would be lovely, but thats gonna be up to the streets to decide, whether or not Techniec stay local or gomajor, as far as from coast to coast. My main mission to thrive in this game is to really try and create some sort of platform for the new cats to come out, and if I can do that then I'm good. Its so much talent out here, that its like man what are all these dudes thinkin about. It's alot more money that could be made if everybody just stuck together. It's real segregated on the West how I see it. If i could do anything about it, my main thing would be to just be able to create a situation where everybody can get out and do they own thing. I'm not afraid of another man outshining me, cause its up to me to hold my own. You mentioned the LBC Crew, have you been workin with Bad Azz at all lately? Yea yeah yea, Bad Azz thats my dude right there, we holla here and there, its like we havent worked as much because everybody been off doin they own thing tryin to get everything crackin. But we most defenitely talked as far as gettin him on my project and me gettin on his next project, so hopefully you'll be hearing sometin from the both of us real soon. Who is set to be on the new LBC Crew project? It's kinda wide open right now, you got the original members which include me, Lil C-Style, South Sentrelle, and probly Bad Azz, and the cat from my crew Dynamic Certified named Pac Ten. So you get the old and somethin new. You got cats like Bo Roc thats gonna be comin through from Dove Shack thats gonna be comin through, so thats pretty much the neucleus of who you gonna be hearin on it. You plan to be on any mixtapes or drop some yourself? Yea, actually I got a mixtape that I'm workin on, also got a crew mixtape that I put out, thats been circulatin locally through the streets or what not, but I got a mixtape comin, The New West mixtape. Is that a newly produced mixtape or you gonna be flowin over other people's beats? It will be mixed up, sneak peaks of whats to come and just me spittin over different beats and what not. And I also got this joint called The Resume, from 1995 to 2003 which consists of alot of joints that came out, ones that didn't come out, and mixtapes joints, its just a collage of shit to put people up on what I been up on last couple years. You already had an LP "18 & Over" in the works on Hoo-Bangin. Was that ever recorded? That was already in the works, but like I said the Priority situation with them transferring over to Capital was real messy at the time, so we didn't push the issue on tryin to get the album out. At the end of the day if an album drops and it don't do good, its the artist that looks bad. Will we be hearing any music from that album on The Resume? It's a couple on The Resume, but you might hear more on a mixtape that I'mma put out. Are you possibly gonna be workin with Battlecat, DJ Pooh, or Blactoven? Actually I met with Blactoven and I haven't really spoken to Battlecat, and like I said I got a couple tracks from Jellyroll. I definitely want the West to be all over my project. I mean me, Im more of an MC type dude, I never proclaim to be no gangsta rapper or nothin like that, but I try and give it give a mixture as far as raw street type shit, raw spit and hip hop type flavor mixed down with that sound. I ain't just come up listenin to one type of music, I'm tryin to create a strong mixture to the point where people will know my sound when they hear it. Would you work with Daz, possibly on some production since he just startin makin beats again? Yeah, I been talkin with all of these cats and my project is pretty much in the beginning stages, I'm probly gonna run maybe 11-12 tracks, so I'mma jus try to get tracks from all of these cats and the hottest tracks gonna go on there. That's how I see it, It really dont matter to me who did the tracks jus who did the hotter track. Thats all I'm tryin to gauge my album off of. There was a rumor you had beef with Snoop, is there any truth to that? Like I said, Business is business, our busines didnt coorespond with each other, so I went my way. He did his thing. When I see snoop its cordial, I'll holla at him, say wassup, whoo whoo whop, aint no hard feelings. You live and you learn. Thats as far as I would take it. As for as how the music soundin' nowadays and him bein the biggest spokesperson for the west Ifeel that it could be a whole lot better. If you not gonna provide an outlet for these new cats to come out and let the sound be heard on how hard dudes is spittin and, real good music you could, you could at least make us look good in public. I just feel like alot of these dudes in different areas is laggin. The west is not bein represented to the fullest right now. We aint walkin around in pimp suits with perms and all of that out here. I give big respect to the pimps but its a whole lot more to be heard and seen out here. I mean he do him, I'mma do me, thats how it happen. Whats the deal with Bo-Roc right now, will we hear him on your new album? We been workin and like I said, the hottest tracks is whats gonna go on there. I really can't say. Hopefully we get that hit, and throw it on there. he defenitely got out and he on the mash right now and he got alot of hot stuff, so hopefully we can get that chemistry and make it real big. So had Bo-Roc been workin with the rest of the Dove Shack? They defenitely workin on somethin too. Did the Dynamic Tyga Rydaz ever put out an album? Thats the same as Dynamic Certified, and right now everything is in the works with that too, we workin on a collective project. With that situation they kinda was just waitin in the wing on me to put my thing out, and we just gonna come off the back end of that. Situations happen thats been postponing that so we workin on a project at the same time. Most likely independent first, then take it from there. Would you work with MC Eiht again? Anything possible. What about workin with DPG again? It would be a lovely situation but they got alot of things they gotta iron out over there. Alot of back and forth, and turmoil in that crew over there. Are you still cool with Crooked I & the Low Lifes? Crooked I, Thats my dude right there... So you ain't really caught up in the whole DPG/Death Row beef right? When you hear Techniec you hear Techniec, you really can't associate me with too much except for Longbeach and Dynamic. Thats pretty much it. I feel that its strength in numbers. The west need to put all that to the side. Like crabs in a barrel over here, got the rest of the cats runnin circles around em, but I really don't get involved in all of that, I just keep it movin and just do me. Are you cool wit the Eastsidaz, Goldie Loc and Tray Deee? Yeah, I got some tracks from Goldie Loc, and I'm waitin on our schedules to get aligned so we can go ahead and do that collabo. Tray Dee is in a infortunate situation right now so hopefully he get through that. So whats the deal with the original Eastsidaz? It was originally you and C Style, were yall replaced or whats the deal with that? Well, you know, that was around the time me and Lil Style was the original Eastidaz and Snoop, and like I said I wasnt feelin the way things were gettin handled, so I went on and did my thing. As far as gettin replaced, you cancall it what you want but I really wasnt feelin the situation, I chose to go my way and do my thing. Now years later you see how the situation turned out. I cant really say I was wrong for doin what I did. Do you still keep in touch with Threat, the LA Zoo, or DJ Pooh? Yeah! Them all my dudes, I'm for a west coast union, aint really holla'd at Pooh or Threat in a minute but them my dudes. Back in the days Pooh was headin alot of the whole operation as far as production or what not on a big level. Anything else you'd like to tell the fans? All I could say is look forward to that new LBC Crew, look forward to that Dynamic Certified, and look forward to that new Techniec, and just get down whatever I'm apart of cause my main thing is for the streets, for the West, I'm tryin to get that name back out there big and make it look credible. When people hear about the west they know that its some real major fire comin out this side, whatever I can do to make that a reality, I'mma do that. |

New Techniec - 'Long Beach Is Back' (L.B.I.B.) ![]() Long Beach's Techniec has been one of the most anticipated artists from the West without a solo album. He went from being in the L.B.C. Crew, to Hoo Bangin' with Mack 10, to riding with The Game & Black Wall Street, and now he's back on his grind with his own crew, Dynamic Certified. Long Beach's own Techniec is back! To this day, Tech is considered by many as one of the best rappers not to have a real solo album out there. We're all hoping that 2007 is the year he drops, because we've been waiting since the LBC Crew days! To ease the wait, Techniec has got some mixtape music for the fans; he jumped on the Dr. Dre produced 50 Cent single "Straight To The Bank" and flipped it Dynamic Certified style. Last week we brought you a new Techniec freestyle over the "Straight To The Bank" beat, and we're already back with a new heatrer from the Long Beach rhyme. It's called "Turn Off The Radio '07" and Techniec adresses the state of the industry and the trifling radio politics, over Ice Cube's classic "Summer Vacation".
