Ziemlich fähiger Produzent aus New England. A messenger of things to come. The one chosen to deliver the law. Historically, Moses was all of these things. History repeated itself at the turn of the mellennium, when we saw the emergence of a new messenger; the namesake of the one before him. Moshe, frankly honest and impossibly humble, has accepted the responsibility of leading his flock to the light. But, it now has become clear, at this stage of the journey, that we all have to pass through the darkness first. In a matter of a few short years, producer and record label head Moshe (Marc Shepard) has become synonymous with the New England underground hip hop movement. His releases, compilations and collaborations have earned him notoriety amoung critics and respect among his peers. The sound he generates is a thick amalgam of instrumental down-tempo, film noir and ambient dischord sobered by sorrow and crusted with a heavy layer of grime. His initial releases gathered the faithful in collections such as "The Lesson", an extension of his weekly nightclub series featured the best hip hop artists in Northern New England. Though, it was wasn’t until his debut solo release, "Tending to the Sheep", that he seemed to absorb this duty in its fullness. The grim reality of this mantle is demonstrated on "Thinning the Herd", where Moshe challenges himself to sonically sacrifice the things that have been the closest to him. At the end of the music and the mourning, there is still a sense of hope that all can be well for the faithful. Moshe is, after all, just the messenger. Moshe has shared the stage in many forms with such acts as Moodswing9, sole, Grand Buffet, DJ Vadim, Big Punisher, Atmosphere, Sage Francis, Old Dominion, Skratch Bastid, Josh Martinez, Awol One, A-Trak, Spearhead, Adeem, Blu Rum 13, DJ Q-Bert, Brother Ali, Medicine Drum, iCON the Mic King, Yarah Bravo, Rustic Overtones and many more. Shortly after relocating to Portland,ME in 2001, Brzowski sought out professional connections in the small but diverse local scene to spread his brooding brand of introspective hiphop, and this quest brought him to Moshe, (a then-local Godfather of sorts, and driving force behind fledgling label Milled Pavement Records). Citing each other's youthful interest in extreme metal, punk, hardcore, and horror films, both realized they were indeed kindred spirits in bringing these influences to realization in the realm of indie-hiphop in particular and electronic music in general. 8 years later, Moshe has successfully turned Milled Pavement Records into an internationally recognized purveyor of avant-garde underground music, and Brzowski has performed and toured to the point that a venerable who's-who of independent hiphop artists call him a major ally in the struggle. After but a handful of collaborative songs, the two have constructed a cohesive EP blending and playing off each-other's signature melancholic-to-ominous stylistic bent. LIKE WOE Brzowski moves from the 1-2 punch traditional rapping style, lathered with images of self-destruction, in the title track “Like Woe”- to his trademark arrhythmic lyrical torrent/lecture on “The Coming Plague”, a thoroughly researched treatise on the futility of staving off disease. Moshe maintains his stark, plodding beats, interspersed with samples, and heavily laden with thick slabs of dirty-digital low-end. The two even take a departure from their sonic characters on the jangly “Dog Called Cirrhosis”, where Brzowski weaves a catchy tribute to sloth and unemployment, while Moshe lays jingling porch-guitar samples over a surprisingly upbeat 4/4 stomp....a serious departure from fan expectations. On the heals of successful string of EU tour dates, and each with a new solo album due out in the coming year, Brzowski & Moshe show no signs of drag on their collective juggernaut. Be Afraid. Be very Afraid. Like Woe. 01. Like Woe 02. Entrail 03. A Dog Called Cirrhosis 04. The Coming Plague 05. Spine (feat. K-the-I???) h-town hat geschrieben: Moshe - Thinning The Herd Ist mir völlig unbekannt der Typ ... |

Compiled & Mastered by Moshe. Zitat: Throughout human history, the number four has had immeasurable significance. Our culture is littered with references to this notable numeral. To wit: there are four elements, truths, corners of the globe, seasons, cardinal directions, humors and temperaments. Hell, there are four blocks in each Tetris shape.
The auspicious nature of this number doesn't end there. On August 31, 2010, Milled Pavement unearths the fourth and final installment of its groundbreaking Goose Bumps compilation series. As the old chestnut goes, with every end comes a new beginning, and with this penultimate release of this global genre-bending series comes Milled Pavement's fourth horseman of the pop culture Apocalypse. Amidst a cultural climate of being scene and not heard, label czar and compilation conservator Moshe unveils the last entry in this game-changing series of releases, signifying the new direction Milled Pavement is about to take. With 66 tracks from 96 artists, producers and performers from every obscure end of the earth, one cannot deny this forthright statement of music's present state, and where it will go from here. Digital Only wie es scheint... Wie gefällt dir eigentlich das Moshe Album, Eule? |
