Tracklist 1.Intro 2.Keep Your Worries 3.Hustlin Daze 4.All I Said 5.Certified 6.Plenty 7.Lift Your Fist 8.Guidance 9.Interlude 10.Supa Love 11.No More 12.Where's my Ladies? 13.Night Vision 14.Who's There? 15.Mashin' Up The World 16.Timeless Obwohl ich so gut wie kaum Eastcoast Stuff hoere, gefaellt mir dieses Album wirklich gut.

The Traveller mit Donald Byrd vom 2. Jazzmatazz ist für mich der Track aus der Serie mit der meisten Atmosphäre, Gänsehautfeeling! |

Gimmel "Young Guru" Keaton, A&R for Roc-A-Fella Records, is regarded as one of the best engineers in the business, but he never thought that he'd be the subject of a friction in Hip-Hop. However, rapper Guru of the legendary Gangstarr has taken exception to Keaton's moniker. "There is no disrespect to [Guru]. I big up that dude and it's really not a problem," Keaton told AllHipHop.com. "I've spoke to a lot of people about it and they are like 'Leave it alone, but I just want duke to know that there ain't no animosity. I don't know where it's coming from. I been a fan since Gangstarr came out and that's what makes me what to reach out to duke and correct it. If it can't be corrected, then so be it." Gangstarr's Guru is a rap veteran whose career stretches into the 1980's and he stated that alone is just cause for the younger guru to change his handle. The first single off his upcoming album, Guru: Version 7.0, has harsh words for Keaton. "When [his name] first caught our ears, we were like, 'Huh?' We tried to reach out and no one got back to us. Then we started seeing more and more articles on him. First of all, my name ain't up for sale. You are not going to write me out of history," Guru told MTV News. "You wouldn't hear anybody say 'Young Grandmaster Flash' or 'Young Kool Herc.' There's rules in hip-hop — that's what's being addressed in the song. It's as real as real can get." Young Guru, who works behind the scenes with Freeway, Jay-Z, Memphis Bleek and Juelz Santana, countered saying that he's simply a fan and isn't interested in any sort of rap beef. "For the record, DJ Premier is my favorite producer of all-time and Gangstarr is one of my favorite groups. I don't have no problem with dude and I don't know where it came from. I just want people to know I've been DJing since '87 under that name," the Wilmington, Delaware native said. "I'm not a rapper. I'm not a threat to [Guru]. I'm just an engineer. I really wish nobody knew my name." Despite upcoming disses, Young Guru said that he's going to stand firm by his assertion that he's going to maintain his moniker. "At the end of the day, I'm not going to change my name." |

Guru & Solar Prep Jazzmatazz Vol. 4 Guru is a walking testament to Hiphop’s spirit, culture and timelessness and his journey in the music industry has been one long ride that contains one classic recording after another; from his work with the legendary Gang Starr, to becoming one of the first artists to fuse Hiphop and Jazz, Guru’s legacy and legend will never be forgotten and he plans on furthering that legacy with his 7 Grand label venture... As the momentum continues to build around the second single, “Hood Dreaming”, (the single peaked at #3 on Hot 97’s top twenty countdown in March 2006) from Guru & Solar’s Version 7.0: The Street Scriptures, (which was hailed for the new sound Solar supplied for Guru from respected outlets such as The Source, NY Post, Essence, Black Beat, etc) featured Styles P, Talib Kweli, B-Real, Jean Grae and continues to sell (nearing 100K units) nearly nine-months after its release, the duo is already in the process of working on the fourth installment of Guru’s always inventive and compelling Jazzmatazz series. Jazzmatazz Vol. 4 will be released in early 2007 and will be preceded by the LP’s lead-single, which will appear in the fall of 2006. Always pushing the envelope, Jazzmatazz Vol. 4 will be a double-disc endeavor that will be entirely produced by Solar and co-produced by Guru. Already gushing over the early recording sessions, Guru lamented “the tracks Solar and I have laid down are incredible and it’s going to be the best Jazzmatazz yet.” In the past, Guru’s Jazzmatazz endeavors have enabled him to collaborate with a who’s who list of legendary musical icons; including Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, Chaka Khan, Isaac Hayes and Branford Marsalis. Early confirmed guests on Jazzmatazz Vol. 4 include Common, Raheem Devaughn, David Sanborn, Ronny Laws and Natasha Benningfield among others. Similar to Version 7.0: The Street Scriptures, Jazzmatazz Vol. 4 will be released on Guru and Solar’s own label 7 Grand Records, a label that although only a year in its inception, has already produced great results and allows Guru & Solar the ability to handle business on their own terms as Solar asserts “7 Grand Records is the epitome of what great NY Hiphop represents taken to the new millennium and beyond! Independent Hip Hop has always been free from corporate BS and 7 Grand is the company that will bring that concept forward.” Likewise, Guru proclaims “7 Grand Records allows me not only to be creative, but to finally be in control of my creativity. With us you've got a legendary spitter that’s still hungry and still relevant, teamed up with the hottest New York producer in the game, which makes for a musical vision that is powerfully important and virtually unstoppable.” With a career that spans over a decade and one that is now eleven-LP’s deep, Guru has been able to stay relevant when many of his counterparts have faded into the background. Now with a new musical and business partnership in full motion with Solar, Guru feels even more reinvigorated. When asked how he has been able stay such a viable force in the music industry Guru states matter of factly “be honest with yourself, be original, be open to criticism and don’t be afraid to reinvent and recreate oneself". |
