Sha Money XL And Cashville Records Say Four 2008 Releases

After reports that Young Buck and Sha Money XL's Cashville imprint would initially go through Interscope, the G-Unit affiliates have announced a deal through Red Distribution for their label. With the deal, Sha Money XL told HipHopDX that it positions them to release at least four albums in 2008.
"2008 is gonna be great. This Red deal is in place, so we’re gonna be dropping records each quarter," said the Queens native producer and manager. The first release will be a label compilation featuring Young Buck, his new act 615, C-Bo and The Outlawz. Although Sha would not yet confirm a full album from 2Pac's onetime proteges, he did speak on their involvement and behalf. "They’re gonna be on the compilation. Those guys are OGs in the game; they deserve a just due. The Outlawz have been shaded because of all the things that happened with ‘Pac and then Suge [Knight] never released them from their contract for a few years till after, when they died down a little bit. The Outlawz never really shot their load off. They did a lot of indies, which was cool, but I don’t think they were marketed well. Those are descendants of ‘Pac – that’s like, you’re still working with The Wailers. You ain’t get Bob Marley, but you still get The Wailers."

Ike Turner, the legendary musician and former husband of Tina Turner,
has died at 76, TMZ.com reports. Turner died in his home outside San
Diego, according to the report. No other details were immediately
available. Born and raised in Clarksdale, Miss., Turner was inspired by
the old blues artists and embarked on a musical career of his own
beginning in the late 1940s. He later met Anna Mae Bullock, aka Tina
Turner, and they developed a hugely successful act together. She would
also become his wife. The couple's often tempestuous relationship was
detailed in Tina Turner's biography, which was the basis for the movie
What's Love Got to Do with It? The pair split in the 1970s. Alongside
his former wife, Turner was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
in 1991.

KOCH Records to Release New Album by Big Noyd

KOCH Records is pleased to announce the release of a new album by Queensbridge rapper Big Noyd. "Illustrious" hits stores everywhere on January 22nd, 2008. This album is executive produced by Lil' Fame of M.O.P. and features guest appearance by Joell Ortiz, Kira and Serani.
The first single, "Things Done Changed" ft. Kira, is at radio now. It can be heard at: http://kochent.edgeboss.net/download/ko ... hanged.mp3

Big Noyd was first introduced with his verse on "Stomp 'Em Out" from Mobb Deep's 1993 debut "Juvenile Hell." But it was in 1995 on the duo's follow-up, "The Infamous," that Noyd really began to be noticed. He later credited his first recording contract to that key appearance...

His debut album, "Episodes of a Hustla," was well-received by critics and fans alike. His next two albums, "Only The Strong" and "On The Grind," were highlighted by numerous Mobb Deep features, and were a good introduction to Big Noyd's music for the masses.

In 2004, after releasing "Only The Strong," Noyd made his acting debut, playing the leading role in the Mobb Deep-produced film, "Murda Muzik - The Movie."

The tracklisting:
1. Snitches 8. The Paper ft. Jay Rush
2. Posted On The Block 9. Ghetto ft. Joell Ortiz
3. So Much Trouble ft. Serani 10. It's a Wrap ft. Ric Rude
4. Heartless 11. Trying to Make It Out
t. 40 Glocc & B.A.M.

The Jacksons Making A Comeback?

Bild

Zitat:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5…that’s how many Jacksons there were performing back in the 1970s with “I Want You Back” and “Never Can Say Goodbye”. And now brother Jermaine says they’re well on their way to a reunion tour, set to begin sometime in 2008. It is planned to be an all out reunion, including brother Michael who left the group in 1985 to pursue his solo career.

Jermaine was the lead singer before Michael took over and has been instrumental in planning the reunion. He says Michael has been at the meetings and will definately be involved. “He has to be. He is a Jackson.”

According to Jermaine, this isn’t the first time the Jackson 5 have tried to come back together. Plans for an earlier regroup were set aside in 2005 due to Michael’s child abuse case.

Jermaine is hopeful that this tour will bring them closer together and closer to a new album. He says the band is currently in the studio working on a new project.

Personal opinion here - look at Michael as a musician and not as a person when you’re considering their reunion. Taking no sides here, but whether you believe in his guilt or innocence regarding events in his life, you can’t deny that he’s had some amazing musical accomplishments. Give him, and the other 4 Jacksons, some kudos for having the cajones to get back out there!

Black Milk is quickly becoming one of the hardest-working men in Hip Hop. This year saw him gain ground with his Popular Demand album, as well as beat placements with the likes of Pharaohe Monch and Lloyd Banks. But the Detroit producer/emcee is ending 2007 on a high note, and riding his momentum well into the new year.

With the help of Aftermath’s Bishop Lamont, Black originally released Caltroit as a free online mixtape with DJ Warrior, but a mastered version without any drops is available for digital download on Fat Beats Records’ website, and the CD is available on the Fat Beats website. The new version is dubbed as “Black Milk Presents” instead of “Bishop Lamont & Black Milk” due to clearance issues with Aftermath, but only one of the songs—“Ret 2 Go” with Ms. Jade, Lady Of Rage and Peeps—is missing. Two new songs are added: “Ape Shit” and “Get Em,” the latter featuring Detroit heavyweights Marv One, Fatt Father and Trick Trick.

The emcee/producer has other collaborative efforts in the works as well. He says that The Set Up, an album with fellow Detroiter/B.R. Gunna partner Fat Ray, should hit stores in January under his Music House label and with distribution by Fat Beats. One of the songs, the Guilty Simpson-featured “Bad Man,” can be heard in our Audio Section [click here]. Most of the highly anticipated full-length with Sean Price and Guilty Simpson—the trio collectively going by the name Random Ax—is three to four songs away from completion as well. He plans to finish recording for that project by mid-January, and to release the disc on Price’s Duck Down Records in summer ‘08.

“I know people expect just to hear shoot ‘em up, street shit through the whole album. But that’s when I get my producer’s hat on, and actually produce the songs,” Black told HipHopDX. “I’m not just giving them hard beats and telling them to put 16’s on them. We’ve got some concept songs, and songs of substance, plus those hard joints people want to hear.”

An untitled EP with Michigan mainstay One Be Lo, whose R.E.B.I.R.T.H. album dropped earlier this month, is also nearing completion.

Black says that he’s adopted some beat-making techniques that allow him to increase his productivity, and at this rate, he’s going to need them. After the aforementioned collaborative efforts, he’s got others. He’s been in talks with Pharaohe Monch to collaborate on an entire album, and he says that Pharaohe has already recorded to four or five more tracks after the two he did for Desire, which Pharaohe released earlier this year. He also says that he’s agreed to do an album with Detroit’s two most respected emcees: Royce Da 5’9” and Elzhi. “People always probably thought about it in their head, but they probably thought it would never come to life.”

Elzhi and Royce were working on a Black Milk-produced track for Elzhi’s upcoming solo disc, and after Black presented Elzhi with the idea, Elzhi approached Royce.

“I was surprised, Royce was like, ‘Nigga let’s do that, I’ve been wanting to do that.’ I’m like, ‘Damn, why you ain’t say nothing?’" Black laughed. “But hopefully it goes down. I’m going to try to knock out all this other stuff fast, because that’s one project that needs to be heard. I think that would…I don’t even want to think about it, man, ‘cause it’s going to mess up my concentration on all this other stuff.”

Jay-Z Leaves Def Jam

Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter will step down as Def Jam Records president when his contract expires this year, he and Universal Music Group announced today (Dec. 24). The rapper will continue to record for Roc-A-Fella, the label he co-founded in 1996, which is part of the Universal-distributed Island Def Jam Music Group.

In a statement announcing his departure, Jay-Z acknowledged the artists and executives he had worked with during his three years as label president, including IDJ chairman/CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid...

He added, "It's time for me to take on new challenges. I am pleased to have had the opportunity to build upon the Def Jam legacy, helping to move the company into a new era of artistic success."

Reid stated, "Jay made it clear to us that he feels the time has come to take on different challenges in his life. While we regret his decision to move on, we certainly respect it ... While he will continue to be one of our signature artists, he will nonetheless be missed in this executive capacity."

In an interview earlier this month with Billboard, Jay-Z said any decision about his future with Def Jam would not be "about money." It's really about trying to invest in the future, trying to invest in maybe coming up with a new model. Because going in hard making records with artists and throwing those records into a system that's flawed is not exciting for me."

"It's not the music; people ingest music the same way. It's just that the model of selling CDs has changed," he continued. "So doing things the typical way is not in the best interests of anyone and not exciting for me. My whole thing is, how do we invest in the future? If everyone is committed to doing that, then I'm sure there's a deal to be made."
