Pharrell Williams recently announced that The Neptunes' alter ego, N.E.R.D. called it quits due to management conflicts at Virgin Records.
Williams recently told BBC Radio 1 that the group, which includes his production partner Chad Hugo and third member Shay, is disbanding.

"N*E*R*D is dead. I don't agree with the management at Virgin Records so we're done. Me and Chad still do what we do in the studio, Shay is still our best friend, you know, perhaps we'll do some music for our fans and leak it to the Internet or something, who knows," Pha-Real told BBC Radio 1. "I've been very quiet about it for the last two years. I'm not here to slander or throw dirt, I'm just not happy so therefore N*E*R*D is expired."

The Neptunes will continue to work as a production team. Virgin Records were unavailable for comment.

Russell Simmons and Sean “P. Diddy” Combs have teamed up to executive produce a reality show titled "Run's House," based on the life of Run-DMC group member Reverend Joseph “Run” Simmons.

"I had a green light at ABC Family to do a show about a black family that's functional," Reverend Run told AllHipHop.com. "The father is a Reverend and a rapper and he has five children. Out of no where, Puffy calls me and says he has an idea. He didn’t know that I had a green light at ABC Family. Puff says 'I want to do a Rev Run reality show on MTV.' I said 'Well I am singing with tomorrow ABC Family tomorrow. He said 'That's small fries. I am going to take Rev Run and put him on MTV. I will produce it with Russell, whatever it takes. You are our Frank Sinatra and you are what we need.’ I said 'OK, make me look good and show it all in a positive light.’"

“Run’s House," taken from Run-DMC’s 1988 hit of the same name, will reveal the family life of Run, who helped spread Hip-Hop around the globe as a member of legendary group Run-DMC.

Combs compared Run’s family life to that of the characters on “The Cosby Show,” the middle of the road hit series developed by veteran comedian, Bill Cosby.

The pilot is part of a first look production agreement that Sean Combs has entered into with MTV.

"This is where rappers go when they grow up, we have kids and we have families,” Run continued. “We’ve been filming it for quite awhile. Puff's very excited and so is MTV.”

MTV Networks Music Group Entertainment President Brian Graden told Variety that Combs has a long history with MTV through videos, award shows, guest appearances and his current TV programming on the network, that a formal relationship made sense.

“Sean very much wants to be a producer, and we want to be in business with him as he begins to establish and express himself in that arena," Graden told Variety.

In addition to the “Making the Band 3” and “Borrow My Crew” shows that Combs is producing for MTV, he will also develop a special called “The Show,” which will take viewers behind the scenes at the launch of the Sean John women’s clothing line in September.

Snoops Bruder startet Rap-Karriere

Die LP soll Produktionen von Dr. Dre, The Neptunes, Scott Storch, Battlecat, Jermaine Dupri and Daz Dillinger enthalten.

According to sources, a brewing feud between T.I. and Little Flip has allegedly resulted in a physical confrontation in Houston, Texas.

Sources stated TI appeared on 97.9 earlier in the day making negative remarks and stated on air that they were heading to Flip's Cloverland neighborhood."

After hearing TI's remarks, they met at a detail shop near Cloverburger, where TI and some of his people were shooting a DVD or something," a source told AllHipHop.com.

"C Note got out of the car first and TI didn't know Flip was there. When Flip came out of the car, they started fighting."

Source said TI appeared on the station after the altercation, but would neither confirm nor deny the incident.

Representatives for Flip or TI could not be reached at press time.

Remember how the feds busted up the unholy trinity of Suge, Irv Gotti and J.Prince? Well, I’m hearing that they are about to set it off again with a gigantic new company. True? Word is the new company is called S.P.G. Music Group (Simon Prince Gotti). Some of you might not know, but Suge’s nickname is Simon, because what he says, you do. The word is that there will be a massive two disc compilation Tupac, Scarface, Ja Rule, Kurupt, Z-Ro, Petey Pablo, Ashanti, Yukmoth, Devin Tha Dude, Juvenile, Eastwood, Lloyd, Bun-B, Skip & Wacko, Black Child, and others. On top of that, a DVD will be made to go with this reported double album. The fellas aren’t trying to do the distribution thing anymore, but will be doing film, music and promotions. One word: WOW.

Zitat:
Nachdem Nelly's Schwester Jackie Donohue schon länger an Leukemie leidet, ist die 31jährige heute Morgen verstorben. Nelly's Familie dazu:

"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Jackie Donahue, 31, who lost her 3-year battle with leukemia this morning. We want to thank everyone for their love and support of Jackie. In particular, we want to thank those who participated in the Jes Us 4 Jackie bone marrow drives."

Nelly hat alle seine anstehenden Auftritte der Tour mit T.I. und Fat Joe gecancelt, um mit dem Verlust seiner Schwester klarzukommen.

R.I.P.

T.I. VS. LilFlip - Round 2!!!

When you think rap their has always been the aspect of beef or battles, its become somewhat of a normality to most fans. While some critics think its childish others like the aspect of some of our biggest rap contenders going head to head. Well we all know T.I. & Lil Flip have been having an ongoing battle with disses flying back and forth from camp to camp. Well we all know T.I. tried to end the battle with a one hitter quitter when he dropped the “Down With The King” mixtape which had some of the South’s biggest heads speaking on the situation as well as old close personal friends of Lil Flip. Well word is now that T.I. was in H-Town and him and Lil Flip have had a physical confrontation of some sort. While details are sketchy at the moment, word is that T.I. was on the radio talking down on Lil Flip prior to him being at a car shop where he was approached by some people out of Flip’s camp. Anything after this is still sketchy, some people said flip and ti fought, some people said TI got knocked out, some people said flip running scared, you know how these things play out. Well on another note there is a videotape that could tell all as some of TI’s crew were filming a DVD so all of it was caught on tape. So we are all going to have to wait patient to see what really happened, you know its going to be a different story till then from both sides. We will bring you more on this as we find out more official info.

Bigg Snoop Dogg hits up DubCNN.com again to broadcast a message. Tha Doggfather has been working behind the scenes and is definitely going to be shaking the rap game up real soon. It's a NEW MOVEMENT, definitely, to bring the West Coast back on track.

Snoop hit us up to let us know a little bit about what's coming.

"It's basically a movement. It's a muthafucka trying to put the West Coast in the proper perspective. As far as just unifying and organizing. And once I get with the players from the West that matter, that make a difference, that really need to be at this muthafuckin' situation, we will proceed to give you more information, and have you with us so you can check it all out with your own two eyes." [Audio: HERE]

Snoop Dogg is eager to get this West Coast shit cracking again, and as he said unifying everybody. He's going to be calling a Western Conference real soon, to make all this shit official, of course, DubCNN will be in the house.

This will also help to break new artists from the West in the game, who haven't shined yet, aswell as veterans still putting it down. "Definitely fucking with new artists, definitely. And this is basically just to help get over all the bitterness of artists that had deals, and can't make it, give them some love, and at the same time open the doors for them new acts!."

Snoop is well aware that it's hard nowadays to make it if you're not affiliated or signed to an already established artists. "It's like this. Dre or Snoop. Dre is fuckin' with none of ya'll. And I'm tired of niggaz trying on their own, doing their thang, and not selling. Every nigga that I rap with that ain't even from the West Coast somehow sell a million records. So why can't I do it for my niggaz at home? Even the niggaz that I don't like, that got attitudes wit me, that hate on me. I can suck it up and become a business man and show them that they shouldn't hate me but they should love me cause I'm a window of opportunity.".[Audio: HERE]

When I told him that alot of his fans were afraid he turned his back to the West Coast when he signed to Star Trak, he replied "I'm not signed to the Neptunes. I don't even know how that got out! I'm on Doggystyle Records! If you noticed everytime you see my video, you see my shit, it say Doggystyle/Star Trak/Geffen. It's a business move! After I left No Limit, I refused to be signed to anybody else! I'm a boss!" [Audio: HERE]

He also spoke on upcoming projects on Doggystyle Records. Soopafly's upcoming album is set to come out on there, aswell as possibly the D.P.G. album that's in the works as we speak.

But the main topic of this update is the Western Conference. This is more than just an event, or just a project, or just a record, this is a whole Movement. I'm not going to let the cat out the bag just yet, but I will bring ya'll more detailed info on this real soon. "The Western Conference. We need this! We need something to organize niggaz, unify, and have some type of leader that they can look up to in this game, from somebody who can really stamp they shit! I'ma put the plan together in the next couple of days as far as getting all the figures together that should be a part of it and run it past them. Once I run it past them, it's up to them to execute it!". [Audio: HERE]

You can also catch Snoop on tour with The Game right now nationwide. "We about to jump on that tour together. This shit is going to be a program that can work, if ya'll want it to work. If ya'll ain't with it when I come back home, cool! I'll keep doing me ya'll keep doing ya'll. But if ya'll with it when I come home, you gotta have your shit together!".
[Audio: HERE]

On the eve of the release of his solo album, “Gutta Mixx,” on Dollars-N-Cents/Adex/Lightyear/WEA, Bushwick Bill of The Geto Boys is pleased to announce that he will be going on a major concert tour with the Grammy-winning Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony...

The first three confirmed dates and venues on the tour will be as follows: On May 5, Robert Stadium in Evansville, IN, on May 6, the Delta Plex in Grand Rapids, MI, and on May 7, the U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee, WI. At press time, more dates are being added, which will be announced at a later date.

Bushwick Bill states that he wanted to announce the tour at a time that would coincide with of ten-year anniversary of the death of Eric “Eazy-E” Wright, so that he could kick off the tour by dedicating it in the late rapper’s memory. Bill observes, “The passing of Eazy-E reminds me of a time, back years ago, when controversy was what ruled hiphop, because people were daring to push the envelope, and that is what made ‘gangsta rap’ prominent. Since Eazy has been gone, very few artists or record companies have had the nerve or the courage to push the envelope, to make statements against the brutality of the police, or to express how they see the government treating people who live in the ghetto. The time was so important, because people like Eazy—E and James Prince threw down, and these are two people that dared to push the envelope. That is part of why the Geto Boys came back with an album called “The Foundation.” Eazy put out groups that struck intrigue in you, where you didn’t just want to hear the music; you wanted to know what was behind it.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony approached rap with hardcore lyrics and melodic speech in how they brought their messages across, using the harmony of R&B to make it a crossroads of hiphop, R&B and jazz. For Eazy to bring someone into the game that could sing and rap at the same time, that was controversial back then.”

Bushwick notes, “I look forward to the next ten years in hiphop, and to see what Eric’s sons are going to do, and who is going to be the next person to come out and push the envelope. Eazy-E was special, not just because he was a great entrepreneur, a solo artist, and because of what he did with NWA, but also because he was a pioneer who spoke his mind. He let everyone on his label express himself freely, because he held up the Constitution. Unlike many today still, he believed that we have the right to free speech, and he carried that torch all the way to the grave, and it’s still burning now, like an ever-burning light. That’s what I learned from Eazy-E. I miss him, and I am still curious about what he would have to say about the world as it is today.”

Bill concludes, “As far as a lot of the music from some of these so-called ‘gangsta’ rappers, who are coming today with this bubble gum rap that is taking over the airwaves, I think a few of the rappers like Eazy-E and some of our other musical forefathers who came before him, are wondering why are we not using our opportunities to speak about the problems that are going on, instead of just talking about having a good time.”

151 from Seattle had spent years with the powerhouse label AWOL records before its demise in the late 90's. After a few years of silence he was back on the grind with C-Bo's West Coast Mafia imprint and dropped his first album which was recieved well upon critcs and fans. The wait for the first album felt like a eternity but 151 will not keep his fans in the blue this time around as he will drop a new album before years end entitled "Power & Privlege" which has features from Carl Thomas (Bad Boy), Juvenile, Kurupt, Lil Flip, Outlawz, and many more.

Ein Beispiel der "objektiven" Berichterstattung des Spiegels:

Zitat:

Zitat:
McDonalds Hungry For Hip-Hop

McDonald’s is seeking to use Hip-Hop to promote their Big Mac sandwich and have offered money to rappers who include the sandwich’s name in a hit record by summer.

Magazine Advertising Age reported that McDonald's has hired marketing firm Maven Strategies to help get the sandwich name checked into upcoming songs.

Maven Strategies is also hoping to time the release of the record that names the sandwich around a broader marketing campaign McDonald’s hopes to launch.

McDonald’s will have final say over the content of the song that includes the name, but Tony Rome, CEO of Maven Strategies, said that McDonald’s is willing to allow the artists to determine how to incorporate the sandwich into their songs.

“The main thing is to allow the artists to do what they do best,” Rome told Advertising Age. “We’re letting them creatively bring to life the product in their song.”

Artists will not receive any money upfront, but instead, McDonald's is offering $1 to $5 every time the song is played on the radio.

“The risk involved for upfront payment is all eliminated,” Rome continued. “If an artist isn’t able to deliver [a hit], there’s no out-of-pocket cost to the client. You pay for performance.”

Maven Strategies performed well last year, after landing the Seagram’s Gin into five rap songs, from such acts as Kanye West, Twista, Franchise Boys and Petey Pablo.

“Hip-hop represents a large share of what pop culture is today,” Rome continued. “Hip-hop’s endorsement of different brands give them a cool factor and representation among youth. They gain credibility by being mentioned in songs.”
